I need a bit of help in making a decision. My website is at the stage now where I need to buy a domain name and I've had a look around at the best deals. The thing I'm wondering is whether ".com" is really worth the extra money over ".co.uk"? You can get ".co.uk" for less than half the price of ".com"

So what do people think? Is ".com." worth the extra money? Will it be that much better than ".co.uk" in terms of attracting visitors to the website? To me ".co.uk" seems pretty good anyway. Any thoughts and experience from you would be helpful.

Also I notice some people have domain names without the "www" at the beginning (I think Jay has this for his website). How do you get these domain names because everywhere I've looked they only offer domain names beginning with "www"? Also, are domain names available without the "www" that are already taken with the "www"?

I just wanted to get your opinions before I make my decision and pay for a domain name. Your advice would be very helpful - thanks.

.com is worth the extra money in my opinion

when i bought my twod.co.uk site a crawler bot automatically bought the .com for 6 years and slapped a hefty $1000 price tag on it

always buy .com/.co.uk

And to answer your non www. question, domains work with or without www... example http://www.pixel2life.com and http://pixel2life.com are the same domain...

.com = WORTH IT!!!

Trust me, .com and .co.uk bring in more attention than the .us, and the .info domains.

kinda old topic but didnt see it, anyway i say .Com or .Net are worth it, you can get them pretty cheaply, USD 3.99 or 5 GBP at http://www.directdomainreg.com

definetly get a .com or .net. Or, if u have the money, buy .com, .net .co.uk and .org
Example: The below are all the same site, just with a few logo chnages and a bit of txt chnaged.

I concur with the .com, but what matters more is the actual name of your site. try to pick one which has something to do with what your promoting. Keep in mind how easy it would be to optimize it. Before making the final selection I would check to see how it rates on the search engines.

Hm,thanks to crawler now I don't have my domain.I used check for it,h2odesigns.com and after one hour it was taken.Never checking it again!
