Full Version: $75 & $50 - Design competition for Trailmed Wilderness Medicine

Mountainmedic
Hi, I was turned on to this site by a friend who very impressed with the results she got to her post.

This competition has a $75 prize. The final design will be chosen from this site. My small company is starting to grow and I am trying to keep up. Due to travel commitments this contest is starting November 2 and ending November 13 at 8am Mountain time. A logo will be chosen at that time. If none are what I am looking for it will be extended while I am away, but I do not believe that will be needed from what I have seen from other contests that I have seen.

I need a new company logo, one that is simple, professional, easily recognizable and one that will provide an identity. The logo will be used in color and black & white. Some green in it would be good and perhaps mountains. We are a wilderness medical education company. It is a side job that has been growing. We are located in Estes Park, Colorado next to Rocky Mountain National Park. We teach wilderness medicine to Search and Rescue groups, Park rangers, rock and ice climbers, cyclists, paddlers, climbing guides and will be starting dive medicine next year. We run classes internationally. Some of our students guide on K2 and Everest. Most students need our courses for their employment and are outdoor professionals.

The company name is Trailmed Wilderness Medicine. I would like to see " Medical training" or "Medical training for outdoor professionals" somewhere in the logo too. Please do not let me curb your creativity though. Let's see what you got.

This logo will be used for all promotions, t-shirts and web site. If this works out I would be willing to pay for design of cards, shirts and other things.

***I am running a seperate contest for a company patch as well for $50.*** Enter both if you wish.

I am looking for a design for a company patch. Preferably round or square. It will be given to students on completion of courses and for all of our instructors. Please use the above information. It should not say 'wilderness medical education' on it though. One idea that I liked was the serpant around the climbing ax in a standard medical configuration.

Please ask questions! I have tried to give as much info as I could think of. I wish I could offer more $, but the winners designs will be used internationally and I am happy to put a small 'logo by...' on the bottom of the website.

Cheers and good luck,

Vern Miller

Well, I hadn't seen yours 'til I finished. I was worried you'd think I ripped it, but I seriously hadn't seen yours until I finished. If you want, I can retract my entry, or just make another one.

Here is my first attempt....

Do you like horizontally orientated logos, i mean, like logos strictly made for banners, or would you like something iconic to represent your company without text?

This is looking good. Is there a way to incorporate the 'Medical training for outdoor professionals'?

(Also, to make sure that it is sized right check the spelling of wilderness.)

[size=4Everyone, don't forget we are looking for ideas for a patch logo as well.[size]
NothingMan
Yup my bad, anyways few letters are the smallest problem...

About the 'Medical training' issue, I think that logo consisting of 3 + 2-5 words can be a problem, to much information, difficult for the eye, plus it wont be visible in small sizes.

But If thats your wish I can do it aswell

I looked at it again, you are right. It can always be added where it needs to be.

Wow, you guys are doing great work as usual! I think Mountain Medic will find his logo & patch here!

Vern, is there a separate thread for the patch contest, or should they post both ideas in this forum?

Wow - Strong work from everybody. My instructors have been giving me some feedback. I will share it with everyone later tonight.

Please keep the ideas coming. Remember, after a logo and patch is chosen there will be additional design work if the winning artist is interested.

Vern & NM,

I am fairly certain that the "red cross" in any representation, i.e., a red cross is trademarked by the red cross. I have afriend who used a red cross in his personal blog (not even a business venture), and they emailed him a note telling him to stop using it. Other versions of a cross, like the inverted one, that is, the graphics inside of a "knockout" cross, are probably OK. Just an FYI, you'd better look into it before deciding on a final logo that has that included.

Hey Nothing Man, what about me???

Hey Suzanne,

Using the 'red cross' that the organization uses is off limits, however, they do not have domain over much else. In the past I was a training site for the Red Cross and am up to date with the do's and don'ts of what we can do. As a current American Heart Association and American Safety and Health Institute training site and faculty member I have permission to use certain insignias. I will make sure that the final design of what is chosen is legal. Gotta keep the paper pushers happy! Thanks for watching out for me! Remember, I need someone to look after me at the April class too.

Hmmm, youre probably right, but I dont see any other thing representing medicine as red cross, I mean every hospital in the world uses it. I thought it was ok if the company who practises any form of medicine uses it.
Anyway, I can always come up with something different smile.gif

As for your logo, Im having few problems with getting the end result, well I dont like the end result yet. But today is a new day, Ill see and submit some work. I allready made the logo on black background, i just forgot to send it. Sorry.
