i am looking to make an animation for a logo......where the scene is pitch black for about 15 frames.....and then a light bulb is supposed to click on.......when i try it in swift it fades the light in.......and i don't want it to fade....i would like it to look like someone turned on a light and then the light bulb swings above the logo back and forth.....is there a way to do this in swift or do i have to do it in 3ds max?

Here, this is a bit messy, but you could turn the light on and put it really far away and then bring it into the scene from that really far away place to where the light is supposed to come on. If you put it far enough away from the scene it will look like the light just appeared there i.e. like it was just turned on. If you put it in any way close to the scene it will gradually make its way to where its supposed to be and the effect won't work. The idea is speed = distance/time so if you make the distance way bigger than the time, it will appear in your scene so fast that you will only notice it turning on, i.e. you won't notice any intermediate times during which the light is moving from a to b. I'm sure there's a better way, but who needs a better way!

I'm not sure about swift (never used it), but in most 3d editors, there is a animating curves panel for animation. Most 3d packages curve the keyframes, so things ease in and out, however, if you changed this to step (15 frames, at 0, then jumps up to 100% at next frame, that should make it turn on.

For the swinging part, you could use reactor in 3ds max, if you want to do it this way, just reply back to this thread, so the mini-tut i make will be public
