Cool.. I saw this tut at Planet Renders! It's pretty good (but of course, I'm not a guru at rating siggys) but it seems a little weird when I look at it; as if the background isn't matching with the render/image? I mean... I don't know.

At 5, I would rate as a 4!

Hah, I noticed you put 3 "L's" in the signature. tongue.gif

Anyways, nice tutorial, nice outcome. 3.5/5 from me. smile.gif

Umm can u guys plz tell me how to do the scan lines please!!
Scythar
there are a few tutorials on this site about scanlines, look them up,
BUT:
basicly there are 2 ways to do this:

First the "i can do it myself way":
Depending on the effect you make a new document thats 2x2, 3x3, 6x6, 7x7 or 8x8 pixels (wide and high). In our case for diagonal lines you need 3x3 pixels.
Then zoom in (to see something w00t.gif ) to the max. Suppose that is 3200x .
Fill the layer with 1 of the 2 colors your gonna use, most of the time that would be white (not in my case); and set the foreground color to the second (that would be mostly black).
Then take the pensil tool and make sure you got a 1-pixel hard round tip
then just draw the pattern.
Select all (ctrl+a) and edit > define pattern
then you can close the document and go to your document where you want it applied.
Go to your image and apply it on a seperate layer, lower the opacity (a lot) and change the layer mode (sometimes).

Another method, IF you just need horizontal lines would be the following:
create a new white filled layer on top of your image:

Now, go to the filter menu and choose sketch > halftone pattern

Change the setting to this f.ex.

Compare the result with the horizontal scanlines in previous post:

This will go down in history as my first Siggy ever. smile.gif

This tutorial was very well written. This was literally the first time I'd ever opened photoshop, and with only a little outside searching (grunge brushes, where to find the smudge tool), I was at least able to make a mediocre signature. smile.gif

Thanks a bunch for making my first experience a good one.

Nice Tut!

A few suggestions though. You used "Then you" way to many times. I would try and find some more transition phrases.

The font you choose was a little hard to read. (1) It was all caps which sometimes is harder to read then super small text. (2) It was a little to bigger for the images size you make your tutorial on. I'd say decrease the size and use a standard font, such as Times New Roman or Arial.

Other than those two things, I thought the tutorial was very well put together. Nice job! Keep up the good work!

Most of these outcomes look really great based on the tutorial.
The only thing wrong with most of them, and this is the crow calling the kettle black seeing as this is my problem as well, the text ruins the sigs.

It's common faq that text can make or break a sig, decent text can not ruin, just leave the sig as it is.
Pro text can make the sig that much better.
Poor text can in turn ruin the entire sig.

(: Good job overall.

Sorry for the double post.

Love the colors, and great work by the tut.
Next time add some personal touches though. (:
Blend the render, and make sure the render isn't too overlapped seeing as how your focal should be kept clear.
