I'm trying to start a web design business with my free time. I'm more into the programming end of things, I hate graphics. I'm trying to think of how I should pay the person that does the graphics for these sites.
The things i'm thinking should be included in consideration is:
1. Number of graphics
2. Amount being brought in by website
But I'm having troubles with getting a starting price. For example, i'm building a new portfolio to use, so i'm doing things a LOT cheaper than I would otherwise. A current project is 1 page, 1 graphic. Price is not set-in-stone, yet, but somewhere between $50-$100.
What would some of you pay a graphic designer for that project?
I was thinking somewhere between $10-$20 for $50 or $30-$40 for $100? I'm really not sure :\
thanks

I think being paid "per graphic" doesn't mean anything at all... a graphic could be a 2 line simple logo or could be a complex 3D design that could run you many hours. Good designers that are hassle free and get exactly what you want done usually charge per hour and $10 - $20 per hour is definitely not what you are going to get from most. Maybe a junior freelance guy will go that low, but it could take longer for th efinal product to be done and it may not be exactly what you want.
Anyhow, bottom line is if you hire a graphic designer that has a decent amount of experience, they will charge you per hour normally. Per graphic is pretty vague. And the last guy I dealt with that did designs charged $500 per layout graphic (That's not including coding.. that's just the main layout).
