Dear Pixel2life community;
I'd like to start off by saying how delighted I am to have found and joined this online community. I'm amazed at the amount of sincere sharing and valuable tips and hints that goes on regularly by obviously very skilled people.
My question; I use my video clips in all sorts of applications including Flash in websites, WMV and MOV in desktop presentations and AVI when experimenting and for fun
What I would like to inquire about is if it would be to my advatage to convert all my footage to a single format prior to using it in After Effects. I have been toying with converting to Quicktime's MOV.
I'm only concerned about After Effects and the ease of use and saving precious memory and RAM.
In closing, I appreciate any response to my question and I'm looking forward to becoming an actice member and contributor to this exciting community.

Thanks for the formality, we usually arn't this formal at P2L, but I really appreciate it
So to answer your question, technically, it shouldn't matter for the application, I suppose it would boost your performance the slightest bit, but I havn't heard of anything like this actually making it much faster. Just the time required to convert everything itself is too much. I would leave it as it is.
Now, for the sake of organization outside of AE, I would keep some type of constant file format for preview purposes. For example, for me, I have most of my footage in either AVI or in Quicktime for quick previewing when I'm not in AE. Also, a lot of my shots i keep in a PNG sequence as well whenever I need to use 3D motion tracking or any 3d elements.
