Wow nice photos, is it true that when a thunder bolt hits the sand, then underneath it forms some kind of a crystal? hehe, i think i saw that in a movie
Metameta
did you know theres never one time that the earth does not have a thunderstorm going on somewhere?
PSgirl
wow, amazing photos. Your friend is quite brave staying there, it seems the storm is really near to the beach. I would have run away all fast I could tongue.gif

Tell your friend that he did a great job taking these. I really love how they turned out. As far as the color, it happens everytime I take photos of lightening. I think it has something to do with the type of visible light that our eyes can see (including the lens of a camera). When you see other cool colors in photos of lightening, most professionals will use different color filters durning an exposure. I've seen others that the photographer just used photoshop to add the colors.

@ Orkane - What camera is he using to take this photos? I love the way it turned out also, as Jason said, It's like a wallpaper edition.

I envy you!!!

Did you use a fisheye for capturing these?
Orkane
Reallly dont know what type of camera he used all i know its a canon slr camera...... the colour i know wasnt from adjusting the exposure or hue cause were i was in hobart i could see that the lightning was purple aswell.
I thought it was like war of the worlds or something the way there were so many bolts going straight down to the water, like aliens were boarding there ships getting ready for an invasion unsure.gif

Oh well there you go!

Exposure is a bit tweaked...

I really enjoy the 3rd one. Where you see, a little bit of contrast between the ground and the sky. I also think this picture has a good rule of 3rds also. Which means if you were to spit the photo into 3rds, all of the pieces would be a good picture in and of itself...(correct me if im wrong people). smile.gif

great photos yeah, quite stunning. i love how the lightning lights the clouds

the colour of the lightning depends on the air that it's going trough. different atoms/ions emit different wavelengths when there's a current flowing trough them. like there's different colours of neon light, because the neon can be a different "mixture" as well

wow. i love how the lightning bolts are beautifully shown in the picture. well, pciture perfect smile.gif
