Im looking for some constructive feedback for a website that I have just about finished building. The website was built for my girlfriend who basically wanted a medium to post her general blog/style rants. She wanted it to look girly, but at the same time appealling to an older / mature age group (hard to find a balance).

The website has been built using php and mysql as well as some jquery for visual effects. Its not powered by wordpress or any other cms available online, its all my own doing. I probably should have just skinned wordpress as it would have saved me time and less earache ha.

Anyway that said, what would you recommend I do to improve the website and the readers experience.

girly was actually the first thing that came to mind, and i can imagine it will appeal to a broader audience than just teenagers. good job on that one, if that was your strive. the only thing i can notice that may need to change is that the menu is too well camouflaged as white page rather than the quite dark background. maybe something simple like a glow or something might do the trick

the design is too dull to consider it as a girly site. you can use colors that can express its girly aura. and one thing: the site really looks kinda boring
