who's tried it and what do you think of it compared to

Win 95
Win 98
Win ME
Win 2000
Win XP
Vista

Me, I love it. Finally MS got it right and removed all the bs.gif
SebLev
Haven't tried it yet but from what I've heard from friends and other people it looks like it's going to be a good one finally. I'll maybe finally upgrade from my XP.

I went from XP to Vista Ultimate 2yrs ago, finally got sick of the slowness and wiped the lot and now dual booting back to XP and Windows 7 it's such a huge difference all very simalar to Vista but all the unneeded junk and slowness is gone and the best thing is it automatically finds all your drivers where as in Vista it was a total nightmare finding drivers or getting certain software to install. Old software installs without those stupid compatability errors, just loving it to pieces compared to any other OS MS has put out.
Metameta
yea windows 7 is amazing. The driver thing I needed a driver from Sony that Microsoft didn't have, Windows 7 was like "Driver missing, heres how to get it" and it told me exactly what to click and stuff on the sony site to get it o_o
SebLev
Metameta? Is that you l3luemage?

Yeah I tried out Vista a lot of times at some of my friends houses and I just couldn't get the feel of it. Also they had all new computers yet mine was always better in performance on XP and my computer was like 2 years older. I think I might need a computer upgrade before going on Windows 7
Donna
lol yeah that's Mage

SebLev you can go from XP or Vista to Windows 7

requirements:
•1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
•1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
•16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
•DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
SebLev
sweet! Guess I'll have to switch.... XP is getting a little limited. Specially if I want to start programing games with direct 10 capabilities. It will be a good thing though because I've been meaning to format my computer. SOOOO much junk has been accumulating on this computer and I'm sure a good cleaning will do it some good. I'll have to make sure to scrub it behind the ears too! tongue.gif
Donna
Only program I used they don't have anymore was windows mail or outlook express in XP so if you use that microsoft wants us to use Windows Live mail now. On the good side you can import all your old emails/contacts but that's about all it has going for it lol

lol you do that

I'm using it and I really like it. I haven't really used vista that much I stayed with XP. I love the redesign of the look!

Thunderbird wink.gif

The only thing I think they should of did is just have one version. Not all the home and professional stuff. (I don't remember what they call them for Windows 7) but what ever.
Donna
thunderbird was no good for me as I couldn't import anything
CrazedLlama
Im testing it, currently on Build 7232, waiting on full release..

It's way better then Vista, start up and shut down. It's really stable and it runs about any programs from XP and Vista still no issues with compatible yet.
Microsoft is really doing good with 7, the taskbar is great, it's really organized no more crowed tacks,
Anyways everybody should try it, I recommend it.

So that's going to make me the only Vista advocate here? tongue.gif

I haven't had the will to do a dual boot with the Win7 beta, but the screenshots/feature reviews i've seen all make it at least look amazing. I'm with SebLev though, it'll give me a good excuse to format my HDD again smile.gif
Bug
If I can make the time to dual boot Windows 7 and Vista, then so can you rc tongue.gif
SebLev
It's easy formating a computer and getting the OS installed. But it's a pain installing all the little things. Specially when you use things that you take for granted that you wouldn't have if you reformat. Specially in 3D I have so many things I've got installed from it and just the amount of install time it would take to get it all back to how I like it would be a pain.

I didn't say i didn't have the time, i said i didn't have the will tongue.gif I have an issue with beta software, and that is that i typically get used to it and hate switching to the full release version because something i got used to always changes. So i'd rather start from scratch with the finished product smile.gif

Yep, took me ages lol and just when I thought I had it all back there would be more. I miss the days when I only had a 2GB HD lol and there wasn't a lot of software to install.

Back in the day with DOS instead of windows and with the big old black floppies...the 5 1/2" floppy. I think I actually still have a computer that runs those things. Their was a sweet ass game I used to love on that thing too and I could never find it again. sad.gif
SebLev
Hmmm looks like I might be upgrading sooner then I thought. My mother board fried on me last night. Had to replace the MB the CPU and the RAM. What a pain. Now I might as well get windows 7 too since half of my computer is pretty much new.

Windows 7 is incredible. Going from Vista to Windows 7 is like jumping from 98 to XP lol... they got rid of all the crap from Vista. All my programs & apps that were not working on vista are now working on Windows 7!
james8522
Windows 95, and XP are the best.
xXx-Treme
I'll join with these guys who love 7 smile.gif I mean like wow, incredible, so fast and stable. I have used it since the first beta and it has never crashed, when vista crashed once per day. It is like switching old Opel against Veyron biggrin.gif
