Reason Im asking this, I notice most members are Canadian. Im Brasilian, lived 10 years in U.S.A. and I do have alot of family their mostly my Dads part. I live in a 3rd World country, where PS3's cost 1,700R$(around 850D$) Our tecnology is expensive, etc. It's a great place to live in food is cheap, comunity is great, rent is cheap also but I enjoy'd living in the U.S.A. way more, I feel out of place here and im just waiting to turn 18 pack my bags and leave, I wish it was that simple but it's not, so im asking around other people hows life in USA and Canada currently, I'd like to know the best place to live in Canada, not so expensive rent, good job opportunities, etc.
Sorry if this isn't the place to discuss this, if so please deleite.

Thanks everyone happy.gif

I love life up here. I live in down town Toronto and it's a nice city. I came from a small town were we had almost more cows then humans so this city was a change. Living expenses are a lot higher in the city though so it all depends on what type of job opportunity you are looking for. But all in all I won't be going back home. I like this place a lot. I am thinking of going out to Montreal though. They have a lot of 3D studios there that would like to work for.

Love it where I am too Prince George, British Columbia's largest northern capital. Moved here 7.5 years ago from Australia and never looked back. The people here are awesome and I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of homeless and drug users at street level so I've seen both sides. Wildlife here is amazing, wolves, cougars, grizzlies, black bears, coyotes, moose, elk, squirrels, snakes (yep we have snakes lol) Our crime rate where I live is extremely high mainly all gang and drug related, last report was we sat at NO: 4 in Canada and like most cities we have shootings etc but 8hrs south of me in Vancouver has shootings nearly every week. The more MS-13 sneaks in the worse it gets. Economy here atm is not the best Canada wide to be honest as we're just coming out of a recession. Job loss in Canada is at an all time high as more and more companies are closing their doors but in reality it doesn't bother you unless you're in that particular field of work. Where I am a lot have lost their homes and really everything they own unable to pay mortgages because of job loss in the foresty industry or mills just closing up. Jobs are there you just have to be the person they want

Temperature wise we go to low -40C (-40) and lower in winter and as high 40C (104F) in summer, you really see all 4 seasons, autumn (fall) is beautiful. But beware only the very bravest live this far north in winter cus you get a heap of snow throughout winter and just when you think it's all gone another lot comes lol. We have a couple of ski resorts, 2 huge rivers, lots of lakes, billions of trees and only a few hours drive to the rocky mountains, Just over 8hrs to the US border. International airport although mainly international for cargo/imports. Rentals here are pretty reasonable and you can buy a 5 bedroom house for under $100,00 and cheaper depending what area of the city you want to live, rentals start anywhere from $200-$1500 and upwards depending on what you want. Most houses have full basements and rent those out, or single rooms to units or full houses.

Rentals south of me Vancouver is absolutey crazy, my nephew lives in a very tiny 2 bedroom highrise in the city and pays just over $2,000 a month. Homes along the waterfronts there are in the millions I'd rather have it all living north and paying less lol.

Min wage is $10 an hour although some still pay $6 hr. Most jobs here average around $15 - $30hr. (average person)

Computer stuff here is cheap well is for me as it used to be expensive in Australia, everything here is cheaper I guess lol, if I really want something and it's too much I buy from ebay and get it shipped from the US saves $$$ as long as they don't put customs charges on. Our prices are pretty close to US prices just a lil bit more but not too much.

Immigration Canada everything you need to know is on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

Dunno what else to tell you apart from the fact I've only seen 2 provinces, British Columbia and Alberta and I love it here where I am.

Especially since Montreal is one of the least expensive between Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver....

It is? Hmm, maybe I should consider going there then... once I learn French >_>

well im in florida right now (would not recomend it) but I am from seattle washington, i love it there, texhnology and graphics jobs are booming up there, so maybe BC canada would be the best of both worlds for you

Under the Canada-Quebec Accord on Immigration, Quebec establishes its own immigration requirements and selects immigrants selected by the Quebec government and I think it's only by a skilled worker or Federal Skilled worker. And you need to be a nominee and selected before you apply, immigration website has all the info. It's the only province that does everything differently when it comes to Immigration.

Just a lil off topic but why is it Quebec is always left out of competitions? If you live in Quebec you cannot enter etc?

Back to topic, JOBS

45,000 jobs were lost in Canada in July Quebec suffered the brunt of the job losses during the month with a 38,100 loss in full-time jobs offset by a small gain in part-time work. Quebec's unemployment rate rose to 9% cent during the month - the highest level since January 2004. Just saying lol cus these are the things people never tell you. tongue.gif

You don't need to know that much french there. Specially in the bigger cities in Quebec. Everything tends to be both and everyone (well almost) knows english there. French is just an advantage.

As for Saskatchewan. I don't even know if they even have electricity there yet so if your looking for a computer job good luck out there. Need cows running in tred mills to run the generators. tongue.gif

Because all contests and competitions are regulated by LotoQuebec which is the governmental agency who "steels" a percentage of the profits from the competitions via a tax lol... so it's not an advantage for companies to do it in Quebec because nearly 20% of the value of the prizes will be taken in a tax lol glare.gif

I love Canada.
I'd never want to live anywhere else in the world.
Dirk Black
i've been to canada a few times, and i thought it was awesome, i love cold weather and good weed though, so i'm biased.
Pamela Morrison
The best thing about Canada is it's weather, and low population, together with the unpolluted beauty.

Hey Actually i want to say onething that U.S is very expensive for food and accomodation costs. But it is very good place to enjoy.

It is my personal opinion. Vancouver is one of the best place to live in Canada. Vancouver is green—not in a severe social or political vein, but quite literally and naturally green. Streets and surroundings are regularly washed clean by our area’s fresh rains. Vancouver also has incredible community; the high standard of living here has attracted people of all nationalities for decades.
