Well i went and saw this "movie" the other day.. i even payed like 60$ for popcorn and soda and snacks.. I also had a girl with me.. so basically everything was in place for an uber movie going experience.. and then something happened.. it was LAME.. oh my god was it lame.. everything was so cliche and this whole movie has been done a dozen times with different half-famous actors and similar premises and the same exact evil villain voice overs.. i actually laughed out loud a few times at this movie (like the underwater star wars-esque spaceship battle) and my date was appalled that i actually payed money for this experience.. one thing i can say is that the special effects where awesome, the cg was perfect, they probably spent there entire budget on just that (because god knows they didn't spend any on the screen play or actors) but it did 'look' awesome. Very disappointing.. just another prime example of the trailers themselves being better then the actual movie.. I'm sure some people are going to respond with 'that movie was awesome'
and that i don't know what I'm talking about.. well those are the same people who loved "day after tomorrow" and all the other "action packed feel good hit of the summer" type movies.. i don't know why i thought this one would be different.. but it was a waste of time and a waste of money.. that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I went to see this with a friend of mine, who also happens to be a geek like me. We had a good time at the movie, laughing mainly at things like the Norton Internet Security popup while that one dude was hacking a computer... There were quite a few other things that made it a good action/comedy. But i will also have to agree with you. Without a friend there to laugh at some of the more subtle things, it wouldn't be worth watching again.

p.s. Just because i own The Day After Tomorrow doesn't mean i loved it tongue.gif

hahaha.. it was kind of fun if you look at it in a 'mystery science theater 2000' sort of way

Haven't seen it yet but I saw District 9 and that's another hyped up movie

I want to see District 9 too and a bunch of other movies but ironically the one I didn't want to see (GI Joe) was the only one I have seen so far. Anyway, I agree It was very lame I didn't expect it to be very good at all. If you haven't seen it, don't or just rent it. People have said its better than transformers but I beg to differ.

What I want to see:
District 9
The Goods
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Funny People
Public Enemies
Dirk Black
Yeah transformers 2 was way better.. wasn't just special effects it had a similar plot to most those types of movies but it was done well.. cant say it was ground breaking and revolutionary but it was at least entertaining.. going to see district 9 tonight, i hope I'm not disappointed..
Dirk Black
OK saw district 9.. went with like 10 people.. me and my best friend both loved it, everyone else thought it was stupid (keep in mind all those people said GI JOE was cool) e.g they wouldn't know a good movie if it slapped them in the face with a wet noodle and called them sally. thought it was very realistic; special effects were perfect as well as the story was believable and people acted accordingly.. i think.. and the main star wasn't your normal buff, jaw clenching, steroid induced cookie cutter action hero.. he could actually act! imagine that..
dEcade
Good to hear I hope that means I'll like it!
CrazedLlama
Looked stupid, so im not going..
Im looking foward to 2012, looks like a good movie.
Dirk Black
2012 looks like another day after tomorrow / deep impact.. but maybe enough people will die in bizarre ways to keep me entertained for a couple hours..

Really? I loved it. We all have are own opinions I guess though. I haven't seen GI joe though and I don't really plan to unless it comes out on DVD and I have really nothing better to do. I might just watch it for the FX though since I do want to go in that field.

Yeah really lol reminded me of Cloverfield with all the shaky camera effects, only brilliant part is all those aliens are played by one person. I do wonder if all those people that lived in the slums of Johannesburg that were removed before filming commenced if they were really placed into better government housing or that's just what they want us to believe. Slumdog millionaire comes to mind, as much as I loved that moved the real stars got jack bs.gif

I haven't seen GI Joe, but what I can say is:

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - A DEFINITE MUST SEE!!! - - I loved every bit of that movie. Its just different to all war movies I have seen, maybe because there is no war, it's a very "What could have been" movie with enough gore, violence, comedy, action and some what sickening scenes to keep me occupied for a few hours!

But be warned, it's quite a "read" due to the german subtitles, but it makes the movie all the more enjoyable in my view!!

GO SEE THAT MOVIE!!!

It's funny I've heard mixed feelings about it. Some people like it and some don't. It seems to be a hit or a miss. But I do want to go see it one way or another. I never rely on other peoples opinions. I like more having my own opinion about it.

i saw it Saturday, it was awesome, of course i am a huge Tarantino fan, but you're right there were some gorey parts but the acting and music and cinematography were excellent, a must see.
