Rephrase your post, you make no sense at all.

And try to avoid using "u" and "ur". I cant stress that enough...its barly coherent and hard to figure out what your saying.

but how do u add material?

See attached image.

Just go to file (=1) then 'new material' (=2)
On 4 you will see an icon with a globe on it.
On 3 you can adjust your material.
Then everything you change on 4 will apply on your globe icon on 3.
After you have set all your preferences for your material just drag your
globe icon (=3) to your render..

Hope this helps unsure.gif

What were the settings for the grey metallic material used on the final product render?

And how do you duplicate an object? I am stupidly stupid (wtf?) at figuring these things out... victory.gif

Materials are my secret tongue.gif

Dupe an object by clicking it in the object manager and hitting Ctrl+C, then Ctrl + V

For those of you who are material making challenged : Deepshaders
Great way to learn materials is to look and tinker with some that are already made. Pretty soon you'll be jumping right into bhodiNUTs and going hog wild with mats victory.gif

hehe, edited this post 4 times now. w00t.gif i just read the comments and all my problems were solved bigwink.gif very cool tutorial indeed!

or....I do have a problem..I don't get my thingy to shine as nicely as yours..it doesn't look like "anything"...it's just plain =( Hope you can help me out...smile.gif

Thanks in advance, Duck

Did you add reflections and bump up the specular reflections of the material you used on the object? Also try adding a few lights in random places, maybe in some random colors around the same hue to help bring out the shine.
SuperDuck
Honestly I don't know how to do either of those things.. unsure.gif so no, I haven't =(

(we're not speaking photoshop here, are we? smile.gif)
theguid
No photoshop here... Open up the material editor for the material you are using (just double click on the material sphere down in your materials list).

Put a check in reflections. For a render similar looking to FS's, bring down the slider for brightness a little bit. Then go to the specular and switch the Mode to Metal and slide the Height slider to the right some. Then apply the material to the object and render. See if that helps. If you need more help with creating and applying materials then see the first cip in this tutorial: Part 1 HDRI
Hope this helps

Hi all,

I'm very new to C4D, and im still a little unfimiliar with the interface. I understand how to build the render, and how to add materials to it (You guys provided enough links & info) But can someone eplain "Nurbs" for me please? This is the 2nd tutorial that has told me to add nurbs and to be honest i don't even know what Nurbs are ...lol... So can someone help me? Thanks.

-Cheers, Cody bigwink.gif
theguid
Nurbs are a type of object. The renders like this one dont use nurbs, they use hyper nurbs over platonic objects. A hyper nurb simply takes an object and adds polygons to it in a distributive blending mathematical averaging curve type manner (cant remember the exact formula off top of my head, its been too long huh.gif ). Basically, it makes the object look smoother. A hyper nurb can be applied to almost any type of object you have.

Firstly, great tut. victory.gif I have a few questions though. First of all, how do you rotate and object? Secondly, how do you rotate the screen so your looking at the object at a different angle? I just got Cinema 4d. thanks in advance.
