Awesome tutorail, wish I had something like that when i first started. Just remeber to always think ahead when you slice, and dont go overboard. What you slice will be tables, so dont make it table hell... Easy and simple does the trick, but make sure its logic in how you do it.

Table hell = main page of P2L

Actually it's not too bad... it's the includes that make my head ache.

So if you want a table content box inside a table content box (like the main p2l page) you just simply put the code inside the larger box?

The index page of p2l is alittle cluttered, but it is pretty good code so I like it.

Same concept as my slicing... just do all your boxes the same way. The fact that you have some faded images on your table background complicates things though... you should walways try to use solid color backgrounds for boxes that you want to stretch with content.

Yea! Great tutorial, unfortunatley i already know dreamweaver extremley well... If only you would have been around a year ago...

vexir, as faken said, try and use solid colours, although you can have gradients... just as long as they are going horizontal (right to left) that way, they can be repeated without any confusion.
vexir
Sep 4 2004, 01:03 PM
Yeah, that gradient is right to left, but I can change it if you like... I sitll dont understand how to do it though..

See dat? The top cell won't fucking shrink
mYth
Sep 5 2004, 10:15 PM
Did you try dragging it in design view? And mke sure all images are the correct size as in they arnt stretched.
prob with setting a gradient to the middle box for background is that you want it to expand, and the background image might do the ugly "start over" repeat

I really don't get what you are not understanding... :/ I mean, just follow the tutorial and it's easy. Cut up all your boxes the way I showed, then create a table to hold them all. Easy as pie... I don't see what you mean by the top cell not collapsing. What top cell? You have quite a few...

By the top cell I mean the cell containing the top tab of the main content box. The cell below that has the repeater image, 416px by 1px.
Do you want a .zip of the stuff because mabye thats the only way to show you..

Okay, sorry if I curse
Fucking hell, you really are L337. So simple and such a clear tutorial. You're a freeking genuis

EDIT ::
Darn, I still got a problem

See that? Everything nice and clean... only one problem, it's a .JPG :'(
the problem is I followed this tutorial to make a table for the nav menu for making the pictures into links. But it turns out horrible, can someone tell me what to do? The problem is the middle.gif. I loaded the middle part in the table as background, the width in pixels is as much as top.gif. So the top of the table. 182 pixels in this case. But it comes out like this

Please help me some one :'(

Okay, it finally worked. Now I have another question for you L337 GFX masters

I made the table. And I inserted images (which I'm going to define as links later one) but I need the space of the images to be smaller...

Can anyone help me with this?

Let me see if i got it right ... you just can't do website designs with gradients cause you'll be not able to pass them to photoshop?!?
Hell ... I've made a layout that i'm proud of but it has 3 or 4 gradients
KenDM
Nov 5 2004, 03:53 AM
Nope, you've gor it wrong, you CAN make gradients from left to right, or from right to left. But not vertically because the tables would be screwed.

Feb 23 2005, 06:53 PM
hey, i download some templaes from online to look to see how they put all the tables together, and i see its hard, but i understand how, it's just so hard to get everything to flow, i can make amizing website templates in Photoshop but once i try to code em, even if i slice right and all, or if i try this tutorial, they just never come out right..

P.S i'd have Dan code it, but i don't have teh $$ and plus i'd like to learn how, becuase i want to start designing templates.
