Swishmax Realistic Water Droplet Tutorial
In this tutorial you will learn how to create a realistic water droplet effect.
Example:
Step.1 (Important Please Read)
First open Swishmax 2 and set the movies properties, i have used the following. width = 359px x height = 272px. frame rate doesnt realy matter unless you want to add effect at a later time. so we will keep it at 25fps.right click on the image below and save as.
now click on the import image button and import the leaf.jpg you have just saved from above.
Step.2
Using the Elipse tool drag out a small oval shape at the top of the leaf. when you have the oval shape click on the sub selection tool and drag the top center white square up towards the top of the leaf, giving the oval shape a more realistic water droplet look, name it droplet. see fig.1 below.ok now lets make it look realistic by addint the gradient colours to the droplet shape.
Using the White and Black colours set the colours and aplha shown in fig.2 below.
you should end up with your droplet looking like fig.3 below.
Fig.3Now we have our water droplet looking something like we are going to add a few more shapes and gradients to make it look more realistic. at this point group the droplet shape as a movie clip and name it droplet click use bottom object as mask.
Step.3
inside the droplet movie clip copy and paste in place the droplet shape and rename the bottom shape as mask. Now using the rectangle tool drag a small rectangle out big enough to cover the bottom of the water droplet and name it shading. and give it the following linear gradient colours black 100% alpha and black 0% alpha. shown ig fig.4.
Fig.4once you have it in place, you need to copy the shading shape and paste it in place move and rotate so it is on the right hand side of the droplet. so your droplet movie clip should look like the image shown in fig.5 below.
Fig.5And your outline panel should at this stage look like thelayout shown in fig.6 below.
Fig.6Step.4
ok close you droplet movie clip copy and paste the leaf.jpg in place copy and paste the droplet movie clip in place group the 2 droplet movie clips and one of the leaf.jpg images together as a movie clip and name effect check use bottom object as maskyour outline panel should be looking like fig.7 below.
Fig.7ok select the leaf.jpg inside the effect movie clip and enlarge the image slightly, to give a magnification effect when the droplet moves over the leaf.
Step.5
select the droplet movie clip inside the effect movie clip and add a move down action. over 70 or 80 frames copy effect and paste the effect onto the second droplet movie clip.thats it press Ctrl+T to test what you have in the player and you should have something looking like fig.8 below.
