Softcore's "How he makes his wires" Tutorial

Remember to visit www.nationalsigleague.com for the best sig league in the world !

1) First off you want to make a new image as shown below. The image can be however big you want it too be, but for Tutorial purposes make it 600x600 with a WHITE background.

2) Once you have created that, you are going to grab your PEN TOOL.

3) Make sure that when using the pen tool you have "Paths" chosen as shown below.

4) Create something close to what I have here. This may take some playing with but you will get it. Just keep trying :)

5) After you have something similar to what I have above you are going to click on your CHANNELS TAB in your Layers Palette. Create a new channel as shown below.

6) Click on your BRUSH TOOL and make the brush size 13 ( You can make it smaller once you have finished the tutorial to make slimmer wires )

7) Now what you want to do is edit this brush in BRUSH PRESETS. This is located ON YOUR TOOLBAR (in CS) on the right hand side at the top of your Photoshop as shown below.

8) Now click on your PEN TOOL once again

9) Now make sure you are still on the layer you made in your CHANNELS section. Right click ON THE PEN LINE YOU MADE and choose STROKE PATH. Select BRUSH, hit "ok".

Now you should see a black background and a white stroke. Click on Filter -->Blur --> Gaussian Blur, and make the radius 3.0 as show below.

10) Hold Ctrl and click on the Alpha Layer, now you should see a dotted line around your white area as shown below.

11) Click back into your Layers Palette and make a new LAYER. Grab your PAINT BUCKET tool and use the color #888888 to fill your white line.

12) Now you want to go to Filter --> Render --> Lighting Effects. In here you want to use the following settings.

13) Once you have done that you should have something that looks like this below. If you dont, go back and MAKE SURE you follow EXACTLY what I have said.

14) Now click back on your brush tool.

15) You want to load a brush that is a hollow circle. Easiest way to do this is go to LOAD BRUSHES, and choose "Assorted Brushes". You will have pre-made ones in there. Set the size to 13.

16) Click back on your pen tool. Make sure BLACK is your foreground color right now

17) Now you want to right click as you did on your line before and choose STROKE PATH and Brush should already be selected. Hit ok. You should have something like this below.

18) Go to Filter --> Sharpen --> and choose "Sharpen More". You will have this below.

19) Congrats, you now have your wire made as shown below.

20) Feel free to cut, transform, whatever you want to do to make the wires work for you :)
