I decided not to use this layer because I was making this tutorial up as I captured it. As a designer you can think of a direction that you want to go in and start piecing it together as you go along, further enhancing your vision of the desired result every step of the way.

Drag in some images that you think will work. These photos are all from the 2k+ images bonus cd available only in the Photoshop Designer or Total Package from Photoshopdesigner.com. You are free to use them if you have the disc (according to the EULA).

Now you’re just going to do a lot of layer masking to get rid of the sharp ‘photo edges’ to help blend the image into a design.

You can use the brush tool if you want but I use the gradient tool Layer masking or ‘hiding’ pixels gives you must more control than just erasing pixels. You can always bring back your pixels whereas erasers are permanent.  This is covered in-depth in BasicPhotoshop training.

Here I’m using two different photos at the top and Rotating under Edit: Transform Rotate (I use the shortcut of Ctrl T) and I’m matching the horizons. This is the obvious thing to do to blend these together even with layer masking because I want to use some of the pixels and have them parallel.

Here I'm just doing a simple stretch pixel effect to move the layer pixels over to the edge (from the selection use Ctrl T and drag over).
