Microsoft Word

Today I am going to share my personal experience about how would I manage to repair my corrupt Word document at last moment. I had a very large Word document which is basically the blue print of my company project. After giving the final touch I saved my document properly and closed the system. Next morning when I opened the document, I got the shock of my life. The document was showing some strange square boxes with no other data. I was like “what happened to my document overnight?” I went completely blank and nothing was coming to my mind. After few minutes, when I got my senses back, I thought of doing something to get my data back.

First I tried Word, open & repair feature and it didn't work. Then I called my friend to get some help. She suggested me to try a professional Word repair tool. So I Goggled for Word repair tool and I found a long list of software’s. I got very confused as I didn't know which one is best. Finally after doing lots of research I choose one and got my data back.

How I choose the best among all?

I wanted the software which can easily repair my data and is of reasonable price. Since I was using Word 2010 so software should support that version. Here is the list of some software’s that I found on the Internet.

Repair My Word by GetData

This software is free of cost. It supports only .doc files. The supported versions are MS Word 6.0, 95, 97 and 2000. As this software does not support .docx files so I tried another.

Advanced Word Repair by DataNumen

This one is paid. It recovers text and images and also provides batch repair of Word files. This software supports MS Word 6.0, 95, 97, 2000 and 2003. As this software also does not support .docx file so the only option was to try next.

Recovery Toolbox for Word by Recovery Toolbox

This one is also paid. It recovers only text, without any formatting. This tool repairs .doc, .docx, .dot, .dotx files and also show preview before recovery. It supports docx file of Word 2007 only. Since this software does not support Word 2010 so I tried next.

Stellar Phoenix Word recovery by Stellar

I choose this software to repair my corrupt document because it satisfied all my requirements. Some of its key features are:

  1. Repairs text, image, font, chart, comments, header, footer etc.
  2. Provides three repair options 'Simple repair', 'Advanced Repair' and 'Raw Recovery'.

  6. Provides Search option to search for corrupt Word document if you don't know the location of it.
  7. Supports MS Word 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010.

Steps to repair corrupt Word document
