The design is too 1 dimensional. As in it has only one colour, try formatting the text to make it look better.

Gotta agree with DH, The 1998 style 1px black borders are killin it for you. Some side bars would also greatly help it.

change the border color? change the site color? some examples would be nice ^_^

ok the header looks bad and theres too much white space and the grey is bland, it just doesnt look good i would say start over.
