Well, I'm just messing around with this basic site right now, anyways, what I want is a 1 pixel border around the whole outside of the main body of the site. This works fine and dandy by making an invisible 1x1 gif and putting it in, but only when it is a row. Columns will not go to 1pixel, and just stay a little fat...

Don't use a graphic to make a border like that.. it's easier to do it using styles. if I understand what you're asking, this is what you want to do:
<body style="background-color: #ffffff; margin: 10px; border: 1px solid #000000"> page here </body>
