I think there are too many borders. The graphic header is too messy; the light shape seems random, and there is a small black spot towards the top-right that I'm not sure is supposed to be there.

Also, I'd say add some color to it (all gray is very dull) and some padding to the text.

I do agree Greg!
Maybe drop the borders, experiment a bit more with colors, fonts and other. What about browsing the net, template sites or something, and see if you can get any inspiration from there?

Well, since all you did was change the colors, my other suggestions still apply (dot in header, too many borders).

In addition, I would take away the borders in the menu, and also change the content text back to normal weight, instead of bold.
