HARSH CRITIQUE WELCOMED!

For the past week I have been messing with Blogger.com trying to get myself a neat little blog thing I can customize and put up information as I so desire. Being very unsatisfied with the software, I did a quick search for alternatives. The first site I clicked on after searching for "blogging software" on Google gave me the answer: WordPress.

WordPress is awesome. Not only is there not a stupid thin ad at the top of your blog, but you get total customizable control otherwise, and several more features than Blogger. Setting it up was really easy so I recommend it for anyone interested in getting a blog.

ANYWAY so I don't sound like a WordPress advertisement, here it is:

http://blog.sqthreer.com or http://www.sqthreer.com/blog

I made this out of the default theme (see example here) mostly just by modifying CSS, but there were a few structural changes too. As you can see I went mostly for simplicity, and tried to theme it similar to my website (which is having some problems right now.)

I spent about 10 to 15 hours over the past few days getting it how it is now. I've tested it in the latest versions of Firefox, Netscape and IE (7 beta also), and version 8.5 of Opera. If someone could tell me how it looks in Safari that would be swell. One of the few known bugs is in IE and Opera, where the comments are indented a bit. But that's not a big problem so I can wait to fix it. In Firefox, Netscape, and Opera, the About This Blog page is slightly wider than the rest of the forum because of an image, but that's okay. And the last thing I can find is, in IE, the double arrow things don't show up before the list items in the sidebar, but I kinda like that so I'm going to get rid of those completely.

Oh yeah, my site currently isn't visually impaired accessible, unfortunately. In IE you can't change the size of the displayed text due to me using points to size them. I'll get around to fixing this eventually when I change all font sizes to em and possibly add an extra media type.

Well that's it I guess. I would really like some good feedback cause I'm going to try and make some use out of this thing. If you see something you don't think fits, any inconsistencies, spelling errors, or bugs, tell me in this thread please. And if you find a page that doesn't pass XHTML or CSS validation before I do, please tell. Oh and feel free to subscribe to it right now if you want to :] Any comments made anywhere will be deleted as soon as I start making real posts though.

Thanks!

Thanks :]

I tried to go for as much compatibility as possible with this, so it should look perfect in all browsers eventually.

I can say it looks very nice and FF 1.5 which I am using. I would test it in Safari for you if I could. I think I have somewhere around here seen some tool which you are able to check how your site looks in safari. But i don't remember the link to:( A simple search might do it though.

Keep up the good work dude!

Thanks :D

I actually got someone to test it in Safari and they say it looks fine. I did a brief search to find some sort of Safari emulator or something but didn't search very hard and just assumed that, since it looks fine in IE, FF and NS, it would probably look good in Safari as well.
