Hi...

I'm not sure if this is a Flash question and/or a Photoshop question...

I've done a Neon sign but... say if I want to make it flash....i.e. literally....do I have to do this in Flash?
Can I do this in Photoshop?

Thanks

........

do you want to get a flashing effect, or do you want to turn it into a flash file.

you dont need to use flash to make it 'flashing'

you most likely need flash to create a flash file although i think there are some free small programs that do simple things for you in flash.

Hi...thanks...

Yes - I'd like to create a 'flashing' effect - if it can be done in Photoshop?

Cheers

You can in image ready... make an image of the neon sign "on" and one with it "off" then just make an animated gif out of them. There are tons of animation tutorials that show you how to do it in the database.

Do what faken says (in fact its best to always do what he says, or he'll come to your house... ;) )

Flash on = outer glow
duplicate layer = much bigger glow
(-->just in case you didnt know that)

Thank you both...

I've done my 'On and Offable' Neon lights....but I've done them in Photoshop...

I've got Image Ready...but I'm not sure how it works - it's always been there
on my machine...never used it...what does it do? (And yes...it's painful for
me to ask questions like this....but I thought I'd get it from the horse's mouth...

i got a tut on creating a simliar animation, except use your neon light images, and you probably dont need to fade the images, i think a blinking neon light sign is the way it works...

Thank you for the tuts...

I've got it flashing now - on and off - it looks great...

but...how do I keep it flashing once I've got it out of Image Ready....i.e. it only
flashes 'forever' when I hit the play button when it's in Image Ready...like...
how do you keep it animated on its own? (And, yes, I can boil an egg).

...except it won't flash...er...in Flash...

Is it possible to have an animated Gif...e.g. this Neon flashing sign I've just made...and then import it
into Flash...and it's there as part of my background...flashing away...?

Thanks

just create the animation again. import the on/off images and do the animation again in flash then make it into a symbol.

Yea, since flash is (like most animation programs) on keyframed base, you got the let Flash know what the beginframe and the endframe is.

(my collegue will kill me if he reads this :(, he teaches Flash to our students and there supposed to code everything...)

As a fresh Newb - unadulterated by anything else - I'd got comfortable learning
Flash - then when I opened up Photoshop it just fried my brain...

Then, returning to Flash to do something basic suddenly becomes impossible...like
I can't remember how it's done. It's like having to learn the abacus again.

Anyway...thanks for your help everyone...I really appreciate it.
