Does anyone know how I can send instant messages with my website automatically when my order form is submitted? ICQ is the closest thing I can come up with, which is having the form e-mail [email protected] and it'll pop up on my ICQ (trillian) but the problem is that service has mysteriously stopped working. I've taken a look around and AOL and Yahoo! don't support this, and I can't find a free service that allows this with MSN.

Does anyone know any way to do this? I can't make a form that'll submit it to ICQ's remote page because it now requires word verification, which obviously an automatic form can't do. I'd preferrably like one that'll work with ICQ or one of the other major messengers that I can use with Trillian, but any suggestions are welcome :P

Edit: I just now realized that this isn't the PHP section... I could've sworn I was there when I posted this... oh well, Faken or Seven when you get a moment can you move it to the proper section?

Do you mean like a submit form, only the message they put in goes to your IM?
If so, then theres one available for AIM.

If it doesn't require word verification (those damn things that say "enter the text seen below" and its a distorted image) then it'll be of great use to me. I want it to be automatic so that when someone orders something it alerts me by itself when the form is processed. Where can I find the AIM one?

Thanks Jay!

well, i never knew you could interact php with an IM service of any kind, but if you want to be notified when some one orders something, you could just use the mail() function in the script to send yourself an email everytime somebody places an order
next best thing if you can't find what you're looking for

There are 2 aim scripts. One sends a pre-made message to your s/n, and another sends a customized message.

Customized message
If I were you, I would make it so your s/n was already inserted in the text box, so it would be easier for others to IM you. Hope this helps...If it isnt the right script, let me know :P

Sorry, not what I'm looking for. I don't want any user interaction whatsoever. I want them to think it went to the database and thats it, and then I want a simple "You have recieved a new order" message to arrive on my IM without them actually having to have the software.

I'm thinking for now that I'll just set up another POP3 account and set MSN to check it for now... maybe when I upgrade my cell I can send SMS messages to it instead. (I know how to do that, its just damned expensive)
