Thanks a lot.

One other question: Have you tried coding the horizontal track follower to allow the user to move to a different area of the song?

Hi funkysoul,

Is there any way to code the horizontal track follower so to allow the user to move to a different area of the song?

Thank you

Yes that can be done. There is an MP3 Player (a replica of Winamp) downloadable on my site, flashimpulse.com, (this was made from scratch, not stolen from funky) that has the ability to scroll to area's in the song (it is also XML driven). If you only want to edit the one you got now, just send me the .fla at d4rkst0n3[at]msn.com and I'll do it for you, and email you back. Ill also comment it so your not lost ;)

Thanks

Hello again, it's been a little while.

How is everyone getting along with this. I'm going to develop my player further for a project and I just wanted your ideas?

I like the encryption idea. How about custom skins for the player? Video playback? Image gallery? Sound driven animations?

videoplayback? :P
Then you would need to create a supplement code for using FLV videos.. check www.gotoandlearn.com for videoplayer tutorials

Sound driven animations?
Not possible without the AS3 programming, there was a solution made with an extra piece of software, but the files become huge and unusable for the internet. Flashkit has developed something similar, but they don't share their source code.

Encryption of XML?
I'm also waiting to see da4rkst0n3's solution on this. :)

Custom skin?
Never checked dark's "winamp" flash player, but if you are still using mine, just create your skin in PS and place it over the controls, match the buttons, animated them, do whatever you want.. only the script is important as well was my mainfocus to show people how to create something like that. Graphcis were never the mainfocus of that tutorial.

I tried filtering the page, but it made flash not read it aswell. Maybe you could make it redirect, its not completely safe, but it will probably work.

d4rkst0n3, did you get my e-mail?

Yeah, I did. I havent had time to work on it, because I've got a lot of things to do (I really do; just went back to school, and I still have my job), so I might complete it soon. I had a look at the file, and it does take a while to figure out stuff like these, since I'm not familiar with any of the symbols and stuff. Also, can you send me the xml file? So I can test it?

Hi,

That is no problem, take your time. I just wanted to make sure you got the file.

Anyway, as for the XML, just use the below in a xml file (put it in the same place as the file I sent you):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<songs>
<song file ="PathtoMP3File" name="MP3Name" band="BandName"/>
</songs>

Thanks

Hi,

I made some changes so could I send you my updated player? (to add the pause and seek features) I could never get the one you sent me to work correctly. I don't know why.

Thanks

ok dude..

have a look at this code:

_root.PLHolder.attachMovie("butTemp","but"+i,i+50);
		trace(i);
		eval(_root.PLHolder["but"+i]).id=i; //<------- CHANGE THIS LINE
		_root.PLHolder["but"+i]._x = 5;
		_root.PLHolder["but"+i]._y = 40 + (i*15);
		_root.PLHolder["but"+i].but_txt.text = songname[i];
		if (i >= 3){
			_root.PLHolder["but"+i]._x = 160
			_root.PLHolder["but"+i]._y = -5 + (i*15);
		}
		_root.PLHolder["but"+i].onRelease = function(){
			clearInterval(timeInterval);
			_root.timeDisplay_txt.text = "00:00/00:00";
			_root.sound_mc.songStarter(songfile[this.id]);

- PLHolder is my playListHolder

As you see, the eval statement must point to the right locaction of where the button is being created.
since you packed the buttons inside a movieclip the path to the dynamic buttons change to:

_root.playlistHolder.buttonName

These changes are to be done to this?

Can you send it to me?
[email protected]

Wow, that looks very nice.

Would you mind sharing the fla? I'm not going to use your layout or anything; I would like just like to take a look at the code for the scrollable playlist and the horizontal track follower.

If not, how would I target the tracks in the scrollable playlist so that they would play when clicked? Also, is there a limit on how many tracks could fit within the playlist?

Thanks

All my files are in this zip
http://itsuite.it.bt...ads5/Player.zip

I'm not sure about a limit with tracks, you can test this yourself. Open up the XML and copy/paste the entries so you have loads and see if this causes problems.

It's No longer there.
