I used illustrator for the main logo and the "2", then imported it into photoshop and did some final touchups, threw on some text and thats about it :P

Got a basic concept complete. An Apple to kind of represent the learning aspect of this website, and pixels bringing the Apple to Life.

It is monotone pretty much (save a few of the pixels opacity I changed for added effect, but would look decent on paper regardless).

I might throw together a color version as well.

None taken Donna, that was actually my fear as well. Dan suggested I use an orange instead :P

Ill probably think of a better way to make my design later on.

Indeed :P

Gah... Apple... Why did you have to use an Apple in your logo?

This is awful, every single step I take to try and make it not look like the apply logo makes it worse, lol.

I have a suggestion for a logo but one of you more talanted peeps will have to put it together.

Alrighty then, A paint brush with different color paint on the tip up the middle of the bursh paint
different color pixels.

GO CRAZY KIDS!!

Or a paintbrush like you said with diff colors on the tip a la XP shiny style painting a line of colored pixels... Hmm :)

David's does remind me of a mac logo, but it's still a cool concept

Alright, I made a colored version of my previous logo, and I thought the result was pretty nice. However, the glossy effects and lighting adjustments I added simply made it look even more like the Apple Logo. I now official hate Apple for using that fruit rather than a Pear or Kiwi or something... morons.

Anyways, needless to say, I dropped the Apple and played with a different style. I dont think the concept is quite as good, but at least it looks a lot more original.

I tried sticking to standard CMYK values for the pixels to keep a balanced theme. I also tried to keep the element of movement intact even though the Pixels were not really building themselves into some form of life.

In the words of Paris Hilton "thats hot", z77

Anyway I do have a suggestion for you design.

A: add a reflection for the pixles cubes
or
B: remove the reflection all together. (I think the reflections are kinda getting tired already)

Just my suggestions
