It is monotone pretty much (save a few of the pixels opacity I changed for added effect, but would look decent on paper regardless).
I might throw together a color version as well.

None taken Donna, that was actually my fear as well. Dan suggested I use an orange instead

Gah... Apple... Why did you have to use an Apple in your logo?
This is awful, every single step I take to try and make it not look like the apply logo makes it worse, lol.

I have a suggestion for a logo but one of you more talanted peeps will have to put it together.

Or a paintbrush like you said with diff colors on the tip a la XP shiny style painting a line of colored pixels... Hmm
David's does remind me of a mac logo, but it's still a cool concept

Anyways, needless to say, I dropped the Apple and played with a different style. I dont think the concept is quite as good, but at least it looks a lot more original.
I tried sticking to standard CMYK values for the pixels to keep a balanced theme. I also tried to keep the element of movement intact even though the Pixels were not really building themselves into some form of life.

Anyway I do have a suggestion for you design.
A: add a reflection for the pixles cubes
or
B: remove the reflection all together. (I think the reflections are kinda getting tired already)
Just my suggestions
