Now now fellas... lets get along.

I think that for the sake of this being a contest, there's no need to ruffle your feathers get excited about someone using the photoshop feather in an entry... I mean to start rattling on about copyright and this and that for something so informal is a bit much. It's fan art... should be a big deal.

BUT considering this is a logo contest for a website, I also think it's a rather serious lack of professionalism to create a logo for someone's company or website that incorporates trademarked images from someone else. I mean, I don't see why you would even enter a logo like that... it's can't even be among the entries to be taken seriously.

And if you start a contest for a site logo, why would you ask for trademark elements to be included in it? You can make the logo and all... no big deal, but you would never be able to use it without risking getting a notice from Adobe.

So be nice people, but common sense would dictate that contests and such for logos and company style brandings should probably not have other trademarked images contained within.

Pretty much all vector expect for some of the lighting effects. That can be fixed if needed.

Since when did i say you HAD to include the feather, I said it's a possibility to have the feather, you've got some of Adobe's logos in your Bowl of Pixels logo. Oh, the logos are all very nice, however, I dont think im going to use them now because of all th mark stuff. The winner will still be announced for the advertising if you would like it.

Hence one of the reasons why it's no longer used as our logo. Once the new forum skin is ready, it will be off the forums too.

Hi Blackhawk,

I'm trying to help prevent problems rather than use a hosepipe on your fireworks. It's not that I'm out to win the competition - in fact the only reason I entered a logo was to get this off the ground. I'm just aware that while Adobe probably don't mind when you're tiny, they've paid money to the gents at MetaDesign to make them a unique icon, and can get pretty annoyed by other people using it. At the end of a 14-hour stint at my desk, I may not have had my usual tact. Sorry to ruffle your feathers upset you, and I hope you stay. You have a lot of talent and this seems like a really good place to nurture it. Remember that the feather has only been around since Photoshop CS - before that it was an eye and that icon

z77, stunning logo. my concerns about the feather still stand but it's a really solid piece of work.

Thanks discontinuity,

Totally agree with you about the use of the feather. It is important to respect the logo of another company. If you can convince them to allow you to use it (highly doubtful), I would say go for it. Otherwise, I could always replace the feather with another object that fits graphic design, such as a photograph, or paintbrush. I'm guessing most of the other participants would be willing to do the same so you do not have to give them free advertising for nothing in return?

Logo's are actually around $150? Iv'e designed them for much more than that

Sometimes when you see an opportunity such as free advertising on a decent quality website, you have to take the offer. 2 Months of advertising could help me increase rankings in SERPS by a tiny ammount, or perhaps send me a few new visitors that will in turn spread the word about my site.

As for getting ripped off, I do enough web development to understand what I get myself into. Thanks for the concern!

Sorry if I came off wrong, I was not trying to be cocky. I too was trying to make a point so that you understood why it might be worth doing design like this.
