P2L Releases v5342.323372! A new/old layout!

Today we have launched the new layout for our v3 back-end, which is mostly a pimped out version of the v2 layout. We felt that this layout was simply more attractive and not only easier for our regular users to figure out, but also for new visitors that look upon the site for the first time. We've re-arranged the menus and presentation to bring the categories, tutorials and User Dock higher up the top fold where they should be and moved the second priority items lower. You can collapse and expand all the dock items, news and categories instead of a mix of collapsing stuff and tabs like we did before. Very soon, all these collapsing items will also be available for non-js users too... for now it's just the categories.
You may also want to note that the display and filter settings tool has moved to the user dock, which is located at the top right side of the site. We've also moved the weekly features right smack on the front page! So it's well worth the effort of webmasters to submit tutorials that will get themselves noticed! I didn't like how it was buried before. Topsites is also back up on the site, and instead of 2 random sites, we now display 5.
As for page load, you'll be please to know that this new layout is only slightly larger than the old v3 layout, but we're going to be shaving another 60k off it shortly with some changes we have planned, so that will really speed thing up for the lower bandwidth users.
We've got a few more tweaks and bells and whistles to shine, but for the moment I'm taking a bit of a break to collect my thoughts and relax before I get back into things. I'll still approve tutorials and all that good stuff, but you won't see me very much in this thread where the wrangling about the layouts will probably erupt
Just remember guys... I can't please everyone, so hopefully the majority like the new layout You might want to use the site for a couple of weeks before you start recommending changes. So many of the people that first said they hated the v3 layout turned around and said a week later that it wasn't so bad.
So that's it gang, enjoy!
Dan
PS. The forum skin isn't ready yet by the way... Ghost's availability has been cut down so we're still working on it. I'm not happy with it yet, so for now we'll use the old forum layout. I'm sure we'll all live

Why change a winning team, I think you took the right decision after all. This new updated version of the old V2 layout looks good to me, only the contrast with the grey background looks a bit odd.
Left menu works perfectly for me btw
