I need you all to look at this site, click here. The client is telling me that the site isn't working in some very strange ways. I have reasons to believe its a security problem with her browser. But those of us that know flash, know that there error she is having with page loading just really isn't possible, here is a excerpt from her complaint.

The website does not seem to be operating correctly. THe music doesn't play
(buttons don't seem to be operational)

The Show button takes you to Music?

All I would LOVE for you all to do is click the links, click shows and make sure it loads the shows scene, and click music and check out a music sample. Make sure its all working, and simply post back your web browser (allong with version), and your OS (also w\ version), and possibly the time. That way I can send it back to her as verification.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

:o Well your client is 100% right and I only quickly viewed in 2 browsers IE and Firefox

You have some problems so go back to your client and listen to what they're telling you, the music doesn't work and the buttons quite honestly need a lot more work.

I am using firefox and the buttons work, there is only a very faint difference between the buttons which i noticed thou, the links take me to the right pages, you click on the sample music and it appears in a small popup and starts playing.

The site overall could be done a lot better though, visualy a lot of work needs to be done. The border does not go all the way around the outside, its missing in the bottom right corner.

the site was a very very budget site, in which all creative input was controlled by the client and the artwork direction was arranged by the client. This was more of a favor than a work for hire. Why would it be working in one firefox and not another? Can you please post your versions? I check on safari, IE, and firefox, and I have all systems go.

because the browsers all work differently. It also works for me in IE BETA 3.

And sending messages to users via pm won't be toletated.

:o why are you sending me messages to read this?
And other members as well I might add. Please don't spam us.

You have issues in firefox, I suggest you pop your fla up so someone whom works in flash can see what's going on but theres definately a navigation problem in firefox on shows it takes you to music or shows visa versa. you cannot click any of the music to download.
Sometimes it's working sometimes not.

Listen, I TRUELY apologize. I had no idea that it wasn't allowed on this board to send a private message to read a post. It was my fault not to be clear with the rules, but I assure you my intent wasn't to break them. I mean no disrespect and I try to be as well-mannered as possible as I respect all of your advise and knowledge.

With that said, please be lenient with me and look over my .fla and I promise I am reading the rules right after clicking post.

Once again, I'm sorry and thank you for the help.

I've been helping recordforlovelife for quite a while now on this website..
To be honest, I don't really care about the layout since he asked me to help on his flash stuff..

Instead of bashing on him, why don't you literaly tell us/him which buttons are not working and which browser you are using.

Donna: Since you are the one which experiences the same problem has the client, may I ask you one question?

Which FF browser you checked it? How come that when I click on music I get directed to music like everybody else on this forum?

And lastly: which flash player are you using?

I'm quite interested on finding out why this issue happens.

I'm using the latest Firefox and latest flashplayer and no one is bashing him? :D

What's happening in FF, if you click "Shows" the music page comes up, you cannot click any of those links to download any music. I just looked in Opera 9.0.1 it's exactly the same thing, click shows it takes you to music.

ok, maybe was the word bashing wrong.. I just thinkg that your first answer was not really appropriate.. but hey..instead of going off topic, let's get back to what we are talking about.

I just can't see the possibility that when you press on shows, the music sites comes up. I have the fla in front of me, and when i test it out, I get the correct sites.

can you have a look at this one, and tell me if you get the same issue?

Just make the site in php or html, you can get the same effect with none of the hassle. the site doesnt need to be flash it has no effects, the music samples are just as easily done in html (which will work in all browsers as will most of php) as it does in flash which doesnt work in all browsers.

if you can get it working in flash then good for you but there really isnt any need for a flash site as there are no effects.

Danny, I hear what you are saying, but this isn't just about making THIS web site. Im trying to come quasi proficient at flash, and I read tutorials, and listen to peoples advice and tips. And in the future, I plan on making a flash worthy sites, and if I can't even make simple _root navigation buttons, what the hell have I learned, right? Anyway, I don't really want this site to go on any longer, because it has become a flash discussion, which wasn't my original intent if you read the initial post. So if there is anyway to move this post to the flash forum, that would be great, moderators. If not, I guess ill just repost in search of an answer.

Thanks for the time, and sorry for the trouble.

I'm using latest FF and Flash Player 8, on a mac, and when I click music the music links work fine (quicktime opened songs in a new window), and when I click shows it shows me two different shows but there's not link or anything on the page.

The first link posted works perfect for me, the second one you posted has that text in the background problem still.

This is how I see the music page in firefox 1.5.0.6 using the latest Flash Player 9 ( 3 different pc's show me the same)

Images are cropped btw but if you notice on the Shows page I see a grey line at the bottom of the page I don't see that on the music page, and none of the urls are clickable for me in firefox but they are in IE.

Music Page:
Attached File  music.jpg   34.57KB   99 downloads

Shows:
Attached File  shows.jpg   31.96KB   97 downloads

Flash Player 9 has some issues even though it's the latest official version maybe this will be of help:

I would understand when a javascrit window wouldn't open with the new flash player 9, but we're talking about stuff which is inside the swf.. which is completely browser indepedent.. Thist just doesn't make sense to me.
