I want to create this arc shape in Photoshop that is in "vector" form so that it scales well.

Posted Image

So I want to create it using an rotated ellipse shape. And then take another rotated ellipse shape to "punch out" a big portion of the first ellipse shape. I got the two ellipse shapes in separate layers. But I don't know how to have one punch a hole in the other. Can you give me some steps in the right direction or links to tutorials.

Thanks.

Hi artcoder

Highlight the layer that is going to punch out the hole in the other layer
Then goto select-load selection, at the top of photoshop

This will make a dotted selection around your layer you highlighted
Once you have done that, highlight the other layer then press backspace on your keyboard, this will delete what ever is in the dotted lines

Then just deselect the dotted lines by going to select - deselect, or use the keyboard short cut Hold CTRL key then press the letter D

Hope this helps :)
