I use DWCS3 and I have started to edit the code with a great guide from Demonslay and others on here.
DW code is what I would call sledgehammer code. Like using a sledgehammer to crack an egg hehe. Also DW code ain't to logical or secure either which is why I now edit it.

Any proof? It is logical and it is secured. The problem is that it assumes you have nothing built already, but saying its not secured or logical is totally false.

The code you posted is exactly the same, just without the MySQL connection and integrating the values directly into the query instead of parsing the type which is not more secure at all.

He may be mis-interpreting when I told him why it is unwise to let DW code for you all the time.

All I really meant was that you can't let a program, well, program for you. It doesn't know exactly what it is you need to be done, how it should be done, or even what the most efficient method of doing it is; it can only guess from the input you give it from whatever options it allows you. Plus it could tend to be a little un-readable with the variable scheme in some instances.

I've never used those kind of features, but I would assume it would be secure, I mean, they wouldn't release code that is completely prone to security bugs.

NGPixel is right; I was just saying that it is overall better to code stuff yourself, so you have more control, and you can actually learn something. :g[1]:

Anyways, to stay on subject... I've always use Dreamweaver 8, and I'm quite satisfied with it. I don't really use anything but the syntax highlighting and the coding tips it gives you for functions and such, and the built-in reference guides for JS (wish I could plug it in to pull from php.net though for PHP, that would be nice...).
I've tried PHP Designer, and it seems quite nice. I especially like how it bolds brackets and quotes together and such. I just tend to keep with DW for some reason.

Other than that, I would be perfectly fine with Notepad in any case, lol.

Oh thanks both NGPixel and Demonslay I stand corrected. The reason I said that was because someone told me that a while ago. No one on P2L just someone I was helping do a project and told me my code was bad, and I just told them it was DW code and they took me off the project.

yeah I know NGP I just took out theirs and put in mine, and the reason was cause I am learning and so I change things to see what happens and what crashes and what doesn't. I believe you learn better from mistakes.. and I make a heap of them LOL.

I personally use Aptana IDE. It just has good support for everything, and can take a beating (opening 100+ things). Thats just me though, for strict PHP I'd take something more lightweight.

After looking a coda demo I bought it.
Love the idea that you save and remote is updated and don't have to press that dw arrow button.
Mainly use for bug fixing.. perfect for that.

That Aptana IDE looks rather nice for OS program <3
