Hi, I would like to set Notepad so that when you start it, then click File --> Open, the default settings are changed from:
Show: (selected)Text Files(selected)
to say..
Show: (selected)All Files(selected)
that seems easy. after that, I want it so that when you go to File --> Open, it starts in a specified folder on my computer. Any help? Thx guys

Not sure if this is even possible... Maybe if you program an entire notepad yourself (C++ & WinAPI - Shouldn't be THAT hard, if you have any knowledge of these languages), or something... It might work some other way too, but I've never heard of a way of doing that...

Indigo, anything is possible with computing.
crushed, its called Cracking, or Reverse Enginnering. However, this art, is ilegal in most cases. You will have to read the lisence of Notepad before you take any more steps into this art.
Cracking, however, to begin, in this case it will most likly start off with downloading a Hex editor. Opening the file in the Hex editor, going to the right location, and changing the name of the menu option.
As I said, this may be ilegal, and I would advise you to read the lisence before continueing in this art. Best of luck.

It probably is illegal, but i doubt microsoft is going to chase you up on changing some settings in notepad...And they wouldn't win a courtcase anyway, Bill Gates is worth 45 billions dollars o.O
