So I just started up this site mainly my portfolio and blog. Just looking for any feedbacks right now. The site isn't completely done, there's still some blank pages and etc. But as of now, how is it?

I would love it if the background wasn't black. I think a light shade of blue, similar to the inside of your content, would look really good.

I had it gray before, but yeah. Blue sounds good, I'll give it at try sometime this week. Thanks, the color blue never really cross my mind, hahaha.

So I edited it, looks good. What does everyone else think?

excsevilly image haevy 2 teh max

use more css, less photoshop

edit: a lot of the elements of your site could be done with css instead of images

edit 2: also upon further examination it is very rudimentary from a composition perspective, the elements are well done but how simpler can it get than:

HEADER
menu
content
content
content
content

edit 3: also in before "well it's common because it works!"

Yeah, I should've used CSS, but got lazy with the coding. Maybe next time when I make a new layout, hahaha. Oh, and you kinda confuse with your edit 2 & 3. Are you saying like simple/common is good or bad?

I'm not really a fan of cartoon style layouts but reguardless I stll find it is a sort of washed out palette.

no i was saying it was a little tooo simple imo

it seems like you are a good designer judging by the general art work done on your site, you should check out http://www.csszengarden.com/ if you haven't already, i think you would be able to relate to a lot of the more abstract/"artsy"/cartoony designs, PLUS they use css!!

Oh on another note, know any good ways to advertise a site, beside buying ads and what not.

haha well ironically getting featured in css zen garden is pretty good publicity, that's what i am working on myself.

simply having good content and spamming around the internets is how sites like deviantart and somethingawful got started (not that those are the pinnacle of the internet, quite the opposite.)

plus a loyal userbase is always good too, helps word of mouth.

edit: also make sure all your ducks are in a row for the spiders that crawl around, you don't want to be left in the dust if someone googles content you have!

Besides the fact that you should have used a lot more coding and a lot less images i'd say it looks really good.
It's clean, simple, and "fun"
I think you hit the nail on the head when it comes to a good design for that kind of site. With a little work you should have no problem getting good amounts of traffic

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Yeah, probably my next layout I'll work on incorporating css and all the other stuff so the load time is smoother. But right now, I need to work on content for the site. =P

I'm sorry this is kind of late and I just skipped to fast reply so I don't know if someone posted this or not already, but I don't like the way the font looks in the copyright area and you should try to stick to the same fonts everywhere for a more professional look. Other than that it looks awesome =D. Great design and awesome logo (although for your next design you should use a whale somewhere...lol). I can tell you actually put some thought into the layout unlike most layouts we see on the web today. Nice!

Overall 9/10. (updated the score to a 9 seeing how everyone is rating other designs I've seen =D)

Yeah, I took your advice and changed the font. It's looks better now so thanks. Oh and I added a whale to the site, hahaha.
