I started modeling, texturing and lighting a little scene. It's a dorm room living room. I felt like doing something different then all the other people making model houses and stuff and tried to go as realistic as possible.

I'm still not done but I'm hoping I'll be updating it as much as possible in the next coming weeks. I still have alot of modeling to do I need to add more nik naks around like finish the TV and add a surround sound system and cords and PS3 controllers and what not. Also I need to add a window and curtains. I also have a couple things untextured.

Anyways this is going to be a view in progress thread for me and I hope I can get your opinion on things and critz so that I can change it before it's too late.

Hope you like it.

Added the TV and the Guitars are colored and cards. Still not finished thought on the card and I'm working on the surround sound system right now.

So I added in the surround sound system. It's not really 100% complete but what ever. I'll be working on things like remote controls and a keyboard I think for the next things. Also I might add in a couple board game boxes if I find good reference pictures.

Superb. I love the lighting, and texture on the TV stand. It has a sophistication and personality to it.

I think a raised window shade might match the mood more than horizontal curtains, though.

i like it, the main lighting through the window is good but the ambient inside could use a little work, i would play with it a little and find one that improves the realism of the scene, also is that a guitar player guitar or just a little kid version of an electric? maybe put some paintings and shelves with nick nacks on the walls and some papers and misc junk on the table, would go a long way to improve the realism. but overall you can tell you spent some time, good work, i love the wood grain and the chairs are modeled nicely, very clean work

oh also you see on the main chair to the right hand lower corner, the wood grain texture should be mixed and matched a bit so that the three horizontal slats dont all have the same knot in the same place.

3dguy3: Yeah I'll be adding a better window in there... right now it's just a hole haha. I've been lazy. Also I'll be putting up curtains to the side.

Yeah the lighting was just a quick one so that I could see how my textures would react. I'll be tweeking it too no end once the main part of the modeling and texturing is done.

As for the Guitar, yes it is a guitar hero one. It's hard to tell without it's colors and yeah I'll be adding a lot more things in the scene like board game boxes and a deck of cards and ps3 control and the list just goes on. I actually just finished a quick version of the TV I'll attach it on.

As for the wood gran on that chair. Yeah I did change the UVs around before but Maya crashed on me and I forgot to change it again. I only noticed it when I rendered it.

Anyways I hope I'll have another update by tonight with more things in the scene.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Amazing! Just amazing. I completly don't know how 3D rendering works but always love to see projects like this. Renders almost looks like real photos and thats why I really like they are. Same design of the room have a nice look. I think it's small room but this desing makes it's optical bigger. Like the furnitures and those perfect image from behind the window. :angrylooking:

Very good job - your effort can be seen in it :)

This project was really off and on... I have updated it alot more since the last image... in total I think I've spend like 60 hours or so... that included a lot of rendering test for the lighting and materials to get it just right...

Thanks again everyone for the criticism it really helps!

I'll try putting an update up soon

Looking good, The progress work shows a good journey. What are you using for rendering??
