I am not sure where this thread is suppose to go and I figure I would drop it here. Please move if it is not.

I just opened a hosting site with godaddy and just about ready to upload my webpage. Can I delete all the folders and files in there? It will not affect my files and folders from viewing after I upload it?

The folder that I see may be important is called stats as there are some files in there.
There is a welcome and a missing.html file, a cgi folder that is empty and a php.ini file.

Hi,

you'll probably have a folder called 'wwwroot', 'public_html' or similar.
You'll have to put all of your files in that folder.

Folders like 'mail' or 'stats' are for these functions respectively.

If you don't have a folder called wwwroot or public_html, please list the folders you do have here.

Just don't delete everything ;-)

Thanks for the reply. Here is what I have.
folder:
cgi (empty)
php_uploads (empty)
stats

Files:
favicon.ico
gdform.php

Given that favicon.ico is in the folder you're talking about, you are probably in what godaddy would consider the 'public_html/' folder. That is where your website would go, so you don't have to worry to much.

I would keep all of htose folders and the php.ini file (just make sure it doesn't have public read permissions). The rest i would assume are safe to delete; though i don't know if godaddy has any special purpose for them or not (generally, those are just files to "help you get started").
