OK here is a little question for you guys... in an effort to make some funds for the site, I was toying with the idea of premium memberships. This is actually not a new idea, but I am looking more and more in to it as a way to fund our operations. We're going to be starting a new hosting company, but that will lose money for months before it starts earning anything, and we all know that it's not easy to get a hosting business off the ground let alone keeping it going.

So what I was thinking was to add a premium membership option that you can purchase for say $10 a year. For that membership fee, you would receive the following benefits:

- No ads. You would view the site totally ad free (not including internal announcement ads... for example we place a banner ad on the main page to announce a new contest, you would see it).
- Double Credits. You would earn double the credits for all actions on the site.
- Bonus Credits. An extra 200 credits added to your account to use towards advertising or prizes.
- Custom "Premium Member" title on the forums or custom title of your choosing.

What do you think guys, would you sign up? I am also thinking of adding this to P2L Hosting... so if you are hosting with us on P2LHosting.com, you are automatically a Premium Member with all the benefits.

Thoughts? If you're on the fence and would likely sign up if we added some additional benefits, please suggest some additional benefits you think we could offer (be realistic).

Any input would be appreciated :)

Thanks,
Dan

Might try getting in contact with some design mags and see if you could add subscriptions to the premium membership.

You could add a referal program for premium members, so, for example, if you refered someone who ended up purchasing the premium membership you would be rewarded extra credits or some other extra benefit.

You could add an option for freelancers, like if you get the premium membership you'll have the option to get listed somewhere on the site, or given simple profile page for freelance work.

That's all I can come up with off the top of my head...

I think this is a great idea. I like the fact of if I use P2L hosting I get these benifits.

Regards,

Jason :)

Def. get the community at a higher number first, mainly to what it was in its high days.

I'd be more then willing to throw a few bucks for a premium. Your tutorial sites have been more then helpful over the years. Even if I'm super lazy and don't work much. :)

I would suggest having maybe a small portfolio section for premium members. Kind of like on CGsociety.org but instead of having it for everyone, only have it for premium members. This way people using your web hosting service for a portfolio site can have a small demo on P2L first and if people want to see more can have a link to direct you to the guys actual site.

That's my 2 cents. By the way I'll be signing up for your web hosting soon. I still have my old subscription somewhere else ending soon but I want to do a re-design of my portfolio site and will probably switch to you guys then.
