Hi, I'm creating a new website selling handmade leather bow ties, however some of the picture taken using a white screen have come out badly I'm trying to remove the background so I can sit image behind perfect white. up to now I've been simply using eraser and magic wand was wondering if anyone has any better methods?

Thanks Nuj

Hi Nuj,
It's called deep-etching, best way to do it is to get used to using the path/pen tool, trace the image with a path, then make a selection from the path, then pop back to your selection tool and if you are using photoshop cs5 use the refine edge option to get rid of the background. Out put to a new layer which will have a transparent background. For web I would use the [save for web and devices] choose png24 and keep the transparency box ticked.
There are many ways to deep-etch in photoshop, I like the new 'refine edge' option so if you have it I would use it. Youtube has many tutorials just search for 'refine edge' and "deep etch with pen tool" and you will get great results.

Cheers
Kath
