I'm sorry to say but, i dont like your design.

That top black bar is good. But maybe you can give it rounded corners on top and on bottom.

Then the colors. It would be better if you use some better colors. The gradient you use for the menu isn't good. You should lighten it alot and u used the wrong font for it. Try to use another one.

For the left menu you should use some lighter blue. For the main box you could make and try it white and use a smaller font size.

Try using http://www.colorsche...com/online.html to get some better colors

Sorry I don't like it either. The actual skeleton of the website is alright but the colours aren't very good. Also the text that says welcome looks really tacky.

Change the gradient of the navigation bar and make the text in the navigation and quick links on the left a bit more suiting and attractive. The bar at the bottom looks dodgy as well.

However you have the skeleton right so with a bit of colour and text tweaking you'll be sweet! :D

The welcome text is just there as a placeholder. Its definately not gonna be there later. The colours definately need improving i know that, do you have any suggestions on it?

Yeah this definately needs improving I'm going to do it the same design i think and use different gradients like others have said, I've been mucking around with a few haven't found 1 that stood out yet.

and quick links on the left a bit more suiting and attractive.

I'm been mucking with a few stuff and nothing stands out yet with that either.

The bar at the bottom looks dodgy as well.

Perhaps use a similiar one like the top?

However you have the skeleton right so with a bit of colour and text tweaking you'll be sweet! :P

Thanks for the comment :D

Heres a minor update (haven't had a chance to do much, had some exams today)

It's has to many dark colours i will need to work on that and its still not matching up very well i'm gonna work on the footer next probably.

Not only do I dislike the design, I don't think it fits a high school. I didn't get the impression that I'm visiting a school's website.

My suggestion is to be a LOT more creative. Stop using the same old boring "header and 2 columns" layout, and create something original. Also, have the school's name in huge letters somewhere, and the school's mascot if you have one.

This is what the school desired.

Who's the better designer, you or your school? You have to inform them that this isn't the greatest idea, and put in your own ideas.

couldnt agree more.... if u dont show the school that the site can be presented in a much better way than wot they are asking for they will be using this same style of layout for years 2 come... certainly not the best...

btw, the rollovers on the nav in the left are to harsh on the eyes... the green for 1 doesnt go and for 2 it kills my eyes lol

takre a look on some sites, p2l, dA, etc and try and find things that inspire u and try to recreate them putting ur own personality into it and make sure to keep in mind it's for ur school...

hm hm hm .... :D

the only thing i realy like very much is the top of the site (black bar, picture).

and just that...

change navigation, try blue letters (change the font) on a grey background, but don't use gradient or textures on background,

maybe white body background ?! :D

Here's some tips...

- The glossy top menu doesn't match the rest, make it a plain matte colour
- Don't mix serif and sans-serif font, so I'd say ditch the times new roman
- take the border off that table, but leave spaces between cells, and change the top cells background color to a light grey or lighter, more saturated blue
- ix the white space behind the header and footer.

There seems to be white spaces where there shouldn't be like between the top black bar and the header and between the header and the navigation. The attempt at a shine on the navigation doesen't look good and the footer would look better without the white space around the black bar. Why not just have the black bar? :D

Update Complete New Design

Very simple design, will add maybe a banner under the top nav bar later just to try and make it less bland.

Sorry to say, but it still doesn't do anything for me. Still doesn't look like a school website, and it doesn't attract any attention.

Also, you forgot an apostrophe in "Principal's."
