The welcome text is just there as a placeholder. Its definately not gonna be there later. The colours definately need improving i know that, do you have any suggestions on it?Sorry I don't like it either. The actual skeleton of the website is alright but the colours aren't very good. Also the text that says welcome looks really tacky.
Yeah this definately needs improving I'm going to do it the same design i think and use different gradients like others have said, I've been mucking around with a few haven't found 1 that stood out yet.Change the gradient of the navigation bar and make the text in the navigation
I'm been mucking with a few stuff and nothing stands out yet with that either.and quick links on the left a bit more suiting and attractive.
Perhaps use a similiar one like the top?The bar at the bottom looks dodgy as well.
Thanks for the commentHowever you have the skeleton right so with a bit of colour and text tweaking you'll be sweet!

Stop using the same old boring "header and 2 columns" layout, and create something original.

Who's the better designer, you or your school? You have to inform them that this isn't the greatest idea, and put in your own ideas.

Here's some tips...
- The glossy top menu doesn't match the rest, make it a plain matte colour
- Don't mix serif and sans-serif font, so I'd say ditch the times new roman
- take the border off that table, but leave spaces between cells, and change the top cells background color to a light grey or lighter, more saturated blue
- ix the white space behind the header and footer.
