VIDEO TUTORIALS

Hey guys, I made these tutorials as an introduction to Photoshop. People who are completely new to the program should be able to watch these videos, and pretty quickly find themselves familiar with the work flow of doing things in Photoshop. I have some more advanced tutorials planed and will post them in this Topic as they are made. Until then, enjoy these basic project based Photoshop tutorials.
Feel free to download any or all of these tutorials.
Most of these are also available on my stage6 account here:
http://stage6.divx.c...roup:uservideos
but some are not yet uploaded.

Tutorial 1
: Learning some methods of selection, for the absolute beginner. (Kind-of boring, not necessary for all beginners, but a good place to start)

Tutorial 2: Basic Compositing. Learn the basic blending modes and, and how to make rain!

That bubbles one interests me. Might look at these.. they are legal ah?

Sorry but these are shocking. The idea of a video tut is TO SHOW the person HOW to make a bubble not to assume they know and just show what you done.

Shocking. Sorry

Yea they are legal, I made them over the past few days. I thought people might wonder though, since rapidshare has such a reputation. Have fun with them!

Edit:
I just painted it by hand in Photoshop with a paint brush. I will post a new one on how to make one from a reference though, how about that?

Yeah.. just that if you want to do video training modules you have to assume the person watching does not know how to do anything of what you are going to show.
Also don't flounder too much.. we all make mistakes sure.. but in that bubble one you seem to flounder too much in the brush engine and go over the same thing several times. People will get bored as I did.

I have done videos for years on both a free and professional level and there are a few rules to follow.
Dan (Faken) wrote a excellent tut on doing videos.. maybe have a read of that and take note of his points.

Another tip is that YOU NEVER CAPTURE YOUR TASKBAR.

Hi again, I realize that I was out of line skipping that step (I was so excited to get to the cool part of painting with the brush). I made this video of me painting the bubble, no sound, it's 2:48 in the morning, and I don't want to wake anyone up, but I think it shows really well a great way to do a bubble, I hope you like it, thanks! BTW, I hold alt and shift when I draw the circle selection to make it draw from the middle, you will see in the video. I made it before I read that I shouldn't capture the task bar, sorry. What's the reasoning behind that?

I won't download anymore.
The reason you do not capture the taskbar is because that is where you can hide things you want to present in the video. It is not considered professional either. One thing you should of had in there was a link to that brush you downloaded and show people where you got it from. Don't expect people to hunt for things on their own because they won't and just close it down and then you have lost a watcher for good.

Have a look at Bert Monray's videos.. sure they are of a very high standard and your ones are not to be expected to be of that standard. But watch how he shows how to do things.. he will assume you know nothing.. and that is what you must do.

Thanks.

How do you know it's not good enough if you haven't watched it? It may very well not be, but according to my download counter, the new video with the bubble being painted has 0 downloads. And excuse my French, but, does any one here really give a fuck if they can see my task bar.

Yeesh, lighten up there CI... these are FREE tutorials he is doing on his own accord. He's not making a dime posting them here and you're comparing them to tutorials made by very experienced authors that are getting paid a TON of cash to produce professional videos, not to mention all their videos go in post editing by a video author. The floundering and errors are simply edited out post-recording :tiphat:

I gotta agree though, I couldn't care a less if your taskbar was in there or not LOL!

Anyhow, going to download the bubble vid now and check it out.

But yeah, CI, lighten up a bit... why not just shoot him in the face next time? lol!

http://rapidshare.co.../redobubble.avi won't play for me but I watched the bubble one last night, it's pretty good and easy to understand for any beginner.

May I suggest you get these hosted somewhere else though as rapidshare is pretty sucky on download limits for free files. Submit them into P2L http://www.pixel2life.com/publish/

Hope to see lots more.

ROFL well a smashing start... I downloaded http://rapidshare.co.../redobubble.avi but I get no video. you should always use a standard codec or link us to what codec you used to encode the video.

Also, for the love of god host these somewhere decent and pull them off rapidpoop lol!

You have reached the download-limit for free-users. Want to download more?
Get your own Premium-account now! Instant download-access! (Or wait 86 minutes)

By the way, if you split up your vids in to 10 MB zip files, you can host your entire tutorials in our publishing area at http://www.pixel2life.com/publish/ The system allows you to attach up to 10 10MB files per tutorials plus images. Do that and submit them to the index for some traffic :)

Edit:
I re encoded that video of me painting the bubble, should play fine now. Updated Link:

I am blunt at most times and that is me and will never change.. but this time I was only trying to help out and nothing more. So put the arms away Dan not needed in this case LOL.

Hey, I'm realizing this could take a very long time for me to upload all of these zip files, would torrent file be ok?

EDIT:
New idea, this site, http://stage6.divx.com/ allows me to upload high quality divx videos, and won't compress them anymore than the original Divx conversion. So I can get super high quality videos up there, with out the users worrying about download limits. Only the viewer has to have divx, which shouldn't be a big issue. Sound cool?

The tutorials can now be viewed here:
http://stage6.divx.c...roup:uservideos
requires the DivX Codec.

Or you can still use the rapidshare links above. I have not gotten all the tutorials up on that site yet.
