Have you ran a basic spyware/adware/virus check on your computer and ran something that would repair the registry, I would say to try that first and if that doesn't work let me know.

either there was a msg.exe file in your windows dir. and it got deleted.. or you tried to use the start->run feature, but you made a typo?

maybe someone can u/l that file onto the web and let you d/l it.. but i dont know if that will work.

I have run an adware and virus check and I got a program to check the registry but still no luck. I rarely use the start -> run feature so i don't think its that. I've tried to look for that file but couldn't find it.

Hmm... maybe go to start->run and type msconfig ( I THINK ) and look at like the startup tab and disable the msg.exe program that is popping up. I'm not positive on all of this, it is all from memory since I don't have a machine running windows anymore.

MAXX: I've tried looking for the file but can't find it.

austen: I couldn't find it in my msconfig.

By the way the file is called mgs.exe and not msg.exe

http://www3.ca.com/s...s.aspx?id=43062

dunno if thats of any use but if you read it does state:

When executed, Win32.Trykid variants copy themselves to the %System% or %Windows% directories with a filename that varies according to variant. CA has received reports of Trykid variants using the following filenames in the wild:

svcmgr32.exe
msiexec.exe
userint32.exe
mgs.exe
svchost.exe
find.exe
msaccrt.exe

Run hijackthis and post your log at http://makephpbb.com...m=vitalsecurity lots of other forums that will read them just found that quickly.

Also type mgs.exe into Google brings up a heap of stuff on that.

Neither of my PC's have this file and I have never seen that ever.
