cos in the material presets there are (i think) 3 or 4 water presets.
The first one is a good one to start with, but way to reflective.

ok thxYou asked about grass and ice, the hair plugin was for the grass.. as far as ice goes I would just experiment man, transperancy and slight reflection, then mess around with the speculer channels untill you find something you like, its not that hard, start with a glass texture if you have to and add some texture to it

start cinema4D,
at the bottom part theres a toolbar with 3 menu-items. You must click on "File" and then go to "load material" (ctrl+shft+O). a browser opens and there you will find the material presets: "basics" is the one you need and prop the only one you have.
