i am interested in making 3d logos and graphics. can anyone tell what program was used to make this logo?

Since there only cylinders and spheres, it could be made in any 3D program. Just the shaders tend to tell me it wasnt a free program.
Still you can never be sure...

Maybe if you put the url here, i'll go have a look.

i figured it was made in a 3d program, what 3d program exports to photoshop and keeps the layers? ( if there is one)

none will do that. although 3d programs do allow you to save targa images and using the stored alpha channels you can take out the backgrounds, then just piece them all together in photoshop and they will have thier own layers.

hmm , then i wonder what they use, i asked them and they said they have thier own program but it is editable in photoshop,

Well yes, every render is editable in Photoshop, there just no layers.
All they could refer to, is that you CAN save a 3D render with an alphachannel, meaning is easy to select it and change backgrounds and if needed add lights...
But normally no 3D program will render in layers, which isnt needed bdw.

Made an example of render in 3D program: (no postwork)



EDIT2:
There is a 3D program specific for constructing chemical structures though (chem3D r something), but still no PS layers.

thats a cool example. i wanst looking specifically for chemical models, i jus happen to grab that logoas an example. what program did you make that with? cinema 4d looks pretty neat

This one was made in Carrara 5 (standard), and like i said this could be done in any program.
But C4D is very nice too.

The only difference is the huge price difference. So if you gonna pay yourself and if you're on tight budget Carrara is much cheaper.

yeah, it would be me paying for it. i am really interested in doing 3d work. i will check out carrara. i have been playing with bryce a bit.
