Hi,

I am hoping (and begging) that someone can design me a logo for a new website that I am looking to create providing information on Diabetes. Its a very close subject for me and I just want to try and help others out there as much as other have helped me!

The website will not be made to create a profit or make any money in anyway so I was hoping somone would help with a logo for the website out of the kindness of there hearts! ;)

The website will be www.diabetesq.co.uk

Just throw some ideas at me around Diabetes Q

Closing date will be 31 Jan 2007

Thanks.

Hmm.. if these is a competition which we will not be receiving money from.. why is there a close date?

I really don't think this should be in the competition free for all section imo.

I think really you are requesting someone to design a logo for you..

I think im sort of correct ;)

No what im saying is..

It isn't a competition..

What do they win? There design being used by someone for free?...

You're asking a select few to design something for you.. and the one that looks best.. wins?

No prize.. so that means it isn't a competition.. You just want a free design..

What are you talking about? We have competitions in here that don't have prizes, like the monthly caption competition.

Thats not what I mean.. basically if he wants a banner/logo but doesnt have nothing for prize but still wants to use the finished product (Like my caption competition, no one gains or loses anything its just fun) But someone will actually be giving something they have made away.

So if he wants someone to make him a banner im sure he can ask for it. I mean i'd be more than willing to do it. The point was it was in the wrong forum imo.

I don't want you to see you get nothing out of this, so here's an entry:

I also don't want the money (I don't mean it as an insult).

Bens is best by far still.. It has that professional/calm look about it..

A little reflection and it would look great! (greater) :whoosh[1]:

Soldier, not meaning to put a dampener on your enthusiasm but you should refrain from making absolute statements in other people's competitions. 'I think....' might be a lot fairer on others who put work in, while still encouraging your friend?

Ben's logo is very nice, but it's also very stylised and hearkens back to medical packaging circa 1998-2001. In the last five years or so, medical design has become a lot more commercial while still having some audience-relevant touches (ie. pill colourings and high contrast label/packaging designs). If the website is to be a more medical-oriented one than a support organisation, then the white/orange design on black might be better branding and better targeting.

Ben - your work would look a lot better if you stopped cranking the jpeg compression right up - why don't you consider exporting in the 90-100 range on save for web? You can always watermark it if you don't want it stolen! Nice 'feminine' design - what's your take on the gender perception of your logo? And would it change if you used different fonts? (nice pairing though)

Just my $2,

John

your kerning is close but not spot on :)

and out of curiousity, why didn't you put a white drop-shadow on the orange Q when on the black background? the blue background version is actually rather nice

Well, I did export the JPEG at 90% quality.. I don't know why you're seeing it in bad quality. And my work is watermarked..

As for the second question, I don't believe that it really take's a side on gender. It just looks, well, like a logo I guess. I'll definately have tries at other font's though.
