Hi all,

I'm just starting out with 3DS Max and I am creating a few trophies for an application. I am having a problem with my material reflections and I'm wondering if one of you pro's can help me out.

The problem seems to be with one of the handles. The reflections on one of them is perfect but the other keeps turning out black. I am using a polished metal preset included in the Architectural (whatsitcalled ;o)).

The trophy can be seen in the attachment. Don't worry about the rough edges around it as I only did a quick delete around the trophy.

As can be seen one of the handles are fine but the other is black.

I created the handles using an Editable Mesh and then copied to the other one. I have rotated the trophy 180 degrees and the black handle still remains so it can't be anything to do with the lighting (if it was, the black handle would remain at the same side after rotation but that's not the case). Also, I tried deleting the silver handle and copying from the black one. Still the same. Then I tried deleting the black handle and copying the silver one...one handle still remains black!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: The attachment didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, obviously due to the transparency of the background layer. It can be seen here: http://i26.photobuck...a_73/Trophy.png

Try attaching it to the bigger piece. If that doesn't work give me a PM of the file.

Nice render by the way.

Cheers Eddragon that worked a treat. Something so simple but I was looking for a difficult answer.

Thanks for your rendering comment. Not bad for a newb! ;)

Thanks, if you have more issues post it.

I like this "eddragon"; I might call myself Education Dragon or something.
