Hi all,
I'm quite new to 3D modelling in 3DsMax. For a third party application i need to model objects in 3dsMax but i'd like to have control over the amount of objects. If i have for example 4 objects, and object 2,3 and 4 form one part i'd like to join these three objects. So when i export to the third party application i have 2 objects (parts).
So basically i wanne know how to join objects in to one object. I don't seem to find an obvious way of doing this in Max.
Any help would be much apreciated.

From memory you can group objects. Sorry can't remember exactly how as it is some time since I used Max, but if you look under group in the help files I am sure you will find it.

I've tried that one but grouping is more something to work easily in Max than it is to physically join several objects in to one i think. When i group them, it are still separate objects.

Oh ok.
I will boot up bootcamp and load Max and have a play around for you.
Be back in a sec
Ok I created 2 boxes and the parts I wanted to join to make as one object I removed the surfaces and then welded the edges together and that made 2 small boxes into one big box.
Hope that helps.. anyway looks like weld is what you want.
Someone may have a better and easier way of doing it.

turn one of the object into an editable poly or add the edit poly modifier. click 'attach' then select the other object.
if the objects have vertex touching you can weld them together but its probably wont make a difference if you dont.
could you post a screen shot of the scene?
