Text effect in after effects

hi.i would like to make the effect from paolo coelho's hp promo where he moves his hand and creates a fire kinda text.any chance to get some help?

That is some advanced CGI..not sure how he did it. He probably created the text in photoshop or some animator software, and then blended it into the video using After Effects.

It could be done easier than you think in after effects. The main thing is to realize that the flame and the lettering are two different things and layered to make it looks like a single effect. Use something like trapcode's particulare for the flame (or whatever flame effect you have access to) and make the lettering on another layer. Give the text a glow, maybe on a duplicate layer set to 'Add' mode. Use a function (maybe the Wiggle() function) to make them wavy, or use an effect control like a ripple and just keyframe it from very wiggly to still over a few frames. Then make opacity keyframes to have it fade in while everything else is going on.
Hope this helps give you some ideas on how to put it together!
