I am currently working on a website, and I have a pdf catalog with a bunch of pictures of pens in it. Each page has 1 or more pens, and I need to get each pen out neatly so I can separate them. I have Adobe Acrobat 9 and Photoshop (CS3 i think). I know how to make each page into an image, and have done that. I tried just using the wand tool to select background areas, but a lot of the time that delete's parts of the pens. I also tried using the pen tool to select each one, but that takes a long time to do, because I then have to erase around the edges of each pen picture anyway, and sometimes it leaves me with little jagged edges.
After I separate the pens I'm adding a little drop shadow, just to make them look nicer on a page.
Here's the pdf I'm extracting from if you need to see it:

I was wondering if there is a quicker and neater way to do this than my current way.
Extract each image from a pdf page?

If that's your source, pretty sure all you can do is the slow tedious way
