
Just using the magic wand on it and deleting takes a lot out of the picture, because the background and parts of the man are the same shade and color. This would result in something like this:

So first we duplicate the layer of the image we want to use.

On the Background copy layer, go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast and set the contrast to 100%.

Select the Magic Wand and then use it on the Background Copy layer.

Then, click on the layer called Background, with the Background Copy layer still selected.

Click Delete. Then, take the Background Copy layer and drag it to the Trash Can to delete it, leaving only the Background layer. The result should look something like this:

There are a few chunks missing, but its still better than the picture from before, huh? Take the History Brush and draw in the chunks missing. Heres my final result:
