A lot of people will specifically delete your affiliate code if they are buying something just so you don't get something. So this can be done to look like a pure outbound with no special affiliate link. It's also useful because lets say you are selling adobe products on the adobe shop, but the link is some weird tracking URL that Adobe uses... well, wouldn't you want the URL to be something that the visitor is familiar with rather than a strange tracking outbound URL that could cause confusion or mistrust? I think it makes good sense.
