Trying to get my portfolio up to show off my work and maybe get some clients if possible. Anyways, here is my first little bit (just the layout, really no content at all) www.graphic-design.ca/~dinner and what I'm workign on right now and will be replacing the first one with http://www.graphic-d...nner/seans site
Any and all comments will be appreciated, thanks!

1st: Grey and boring. Try a background-pattern and replace the grey with red or green or something.
2nd: Better, the colors really help, but personally I´m no fan of the blurry white boxes. But still, better than the first one.

You're serving google adsense on a site where you offer your webdesign services, but those google ads are naturally for other webdesign companies. You're advertising your competition

Lol very trueYou're advertising your competition
Also about the adds, this is your portfolio site id reccomend trying to generate income through clients rather than adds. I personally wouldnt use your services because of these adds, it makes the site look like one of the advertising search sites, oh how i loathe those sites. Also not a huge fan of the colouring, looks sort of bland.

I agree looks much cleaner now, the design itself is very blurred, doesnt look very graphically impressive (again design site needs a good layout itself) i wouldnt reccomend that technique for this kind of site.

Alrighty, back to the drawing board for me lol. Thanks
I thought the blurry thing was kinda cool, I was trying something new, but I see what you mean.

don't like the first but like the second... if u keep the inner shadow and lose the drop shadow it should make the boxes look fine... unless it's not shadows that r making it look blurry?
good luck anyways...
